I've been trying to get Rayman 2 running on my Wii U for a while now to no avail. It seems its not fully compatible with anything. Even Not64 has a bunch of oddities like all sprites being on the front layer (also it crashed on me). So I'm resorting to weirder ideas...

Is there anyway to port a Nintendo 64 game to GameCube? Are there any programs dedicated to it? Could Rayman 2 be injected into something like the Zelda Collection? If I can somehow turn it into a GameCube game, I should be able to play it via Nintendont.

Is there anyway to run, convert, or port a N64 game to GameCube?

As far as I know the Zelda collection contains a highly specialized emulator specifically built for running Ocarina of Time an Majora's Mask (there are N64 ROMs on that disc). I don't think it supports many other games.

Even the Wii U N64 Virtual Console emulator seems fairly limited and does not support Rayman 2 according to:

N64 emulation is in general tricky. If Not64 and Wii64 do not handle it properly you're probably out of luck.

Other ideas:
Rayman 2 has been ported to many systems.
Maybe the Wii U can handle
  • Rayman DS (Virtual Console injection) – or–
  • Rayman 2 (PlayStation 1 via WiiSXR)
Admittedly those two versions are not the best. I prefer the Dreamcast and 3DS versions over the others but never had the PlayStation 2 version. Geez. How many ports did Ubisoft make?!

If you really want to play N64 roms these are your options.

1. Play it on PC and get a wireless controller for PC
2. Invest in a Switch
3. Get a Wii U (although compatibility is like 50% so not a great option)

You're never going to play n64 roms on a Gamecube. This is 2020 (Gamecube came out in 2002) you need a newer console and you should know that.

Huh? This is the Wii U section and a thread about getting N64 Rayman running on Wii U. @tetrisquest had the idea to use the emulator on the GC Zelda disc to get Rayman loaded. I don't think this specialised emulator will load many other ROMs

Besides… The GameCube supposedly can run N64 ROMs https://www.gc-forever.com/wiki/index.php?title=Cube64 (not tried it yet).

The Zelda Collection emulation is a less refined version of the emulator the Wii VC uses. Its compatibility is very, very low - it can run Mario 64 and iirc Star Fox 64, but that's it. I really doubt Rayman 2 runs on it.

If you really want to play it on Wii U, injecting the DS version is probably the best way (although the DS port wasn't that great).

I see, thank you! I do actually have the PS2 version, but A) My PS3 is slowly failing and B) I'm stubborn and want my 64 games all together on the same platform :0

Oh yeah, Rayman DS! That's actually the first version of the game I played :] It's just the 64 version slightly watered down right? I guess that can work!

I got one problem though, it's not on the Compatability list! So I have no idea which base to use... Anyone here injected Rayman DS onto Wii U before?

You could get the Rayman DS VC inject. It works without issue and is the same game as Rayman 2 on N64, except not quite as pretty of course. Got it on my Wii U and it works great!
