Hello everyone,

I just tried to play Sonic Adventure 2 on flycast, but could't manage to play it because the screen is all green and unplayable. Though I saw video in internet of people playing it and saying it's possible to play it with the m4xw version of the emulator which fix it. I have been to his twitter and tried many versions, but there is still the same problem. Could someone give me a link to the good version please ? Also maybe there is an option to activate in emulator so that it works ? Thank you very much in advance.

Thank you very much ! I will try again this one, but I think I already tried it. Maybe I need my Sonic to be in another format or to do something in emulator ?

Rom format doesn't matter. No need for additional tweaks also... It just works.

RA version? CFW? Show what ver of the core is displayed when you load the game.

its the same core from the post i linked (which i'm also using rn)

Interesting.. Sonic 2 works fine for me. Does it works for you ? I don't know why. Maybe he didn't deleted it correct or something.

It works for me too, so it's def something on his end. Either he replaced the core incorrectly or he's not using atmos or something else (but i never used sx so idk if it works there or not).

That's what I thought. He needs to give us more details at first.

Thank you guys ! I understood what was my mistake ! Actually, each time I installed nro file, I installed them in the switch folder of my hardware. Though, I went to the core folder and discover that the core files are in nro format too. So I erased the last one from retroarch and used the one from m4xw that you provided me. Now it works !! Thank you a lot for your help and time.

I have one more question though, is it possible to keep both old core and recent core in retroarch to use the one who works best with different games ? Because I tried to rename both to find them in Retroarch, but it doesn't seems to work anymore if I rename them.

Thank you a lot in any case :).

When retroarch is update for Switch. I suggest you to keep this file that we posted for you to overwrite it because they haven't merge it into retroarch online yet.

Thank you very much for your great advices !

The new versions aren't better with optimisation for other games ? Bceause I was wondering if I could get both versions for example in the same retroarch, or use maybe two different retroarch application maybe with different cores ?

The only way to do that is with nro2nsp forwarders. The reason is you can add both cores but you would have to rename one to something different and Retroarch won't associate it Dreamcast roms and so they won't load for the one you had to rename. But when you make forwarders it skips the association process.

Changing between these cores is not worth the hassle. There are no significant changes/improvements anyway... The ver. that fixes SA2 and Soulcalibur only breaks a handful of games, no other major differences, so i suggest keeping it until the fixes go mainstream.

Thank you very much everyone. It was really big help. I will stay with this core for now. It seems to work very well indeed.

I just have another question, I'm using SX OS with emunand since I hacked my switch recently, but I didn't succeed to link my emu nand from sx os to the atmosphere cwf, so I'm using Atmosphere on my sysnand only for dreamcast emulation which I really wanted to do. I know installing nsp is not to be banned because it create a ticket I believe, so I just used on my sysnand an xci that I installed and only .nro file. How much is the risk I get banned if I go only with my sysnand ? If I do someday, should I back up my sysnand which I did before using hack on switch ?

Thank you everyone for your kindness again !

I mean... If one of that handful is a game that you like playing then I guess it's a fairly significant change

It is not a significant change for the core if it only affects your favorite game, i think it's fairly obvious. Its significant for you, not for the flycast core and its community overall, except when the changes fix the most well known/popular titles (like they do in this case e.g.).

Who is talking about the Flycast core and it's community? Saying to somebody a change is "insignificant" because it "only breaks a few games" in the context of the question "can I run multiple core versions" is silly, because if that person happens to want to *play* one of the games that is now broken then they do, in fact, still need the ability to run both versions of the core.
