This may belong in the noob section but thought it might be better here. I have my modded Switch coming tomorrow, which the guy has used a trinket mod and SX OS including license. It apparently boots into OFW as normal and into a payload selector with a button press. So you have the choice of modded or not. I thought this would require Emunand to switch between the OFW and Sx OS for example? When questioned he said he'd never used emunand he had installed a 'trinket mod but with a modified code which allows multiple payloads'. He seemed a bit vague, so can anyone advise me on where to go from here as I'm unclear how he has set it up! Many thanks

You're talking about 2 different things :
- the normal nand vs the emunand
- booting different kind of firmwares.

You can select multiple payloads so that you end up using the official firmware, Atmosphere, Reinx or whatever custom firmware is available.
Without an emunand you most likely get banned once you get online because Nintendo does check some things to see if you might be running a custom firmware. Usually these check happen when you connect to an online game server or access the eShop.

If you plan on playing online with your official firmware, you need to add your custom firmware to an emunand.
Then you can go online with your 'clean' original firmware and
safely be a pirate on your emunend (without going online of course).
SXOS has some pirate features where you can go online with pirated software but there is always a chance that they mess up and you get detected.

Ah okay thank you. So I should setup emunand when I receive the console just to be safe? Should I then switch SD cards when using the OFW, as surely Emunand will take up my whole SD card leaving no space for the official games I play on OFW that I bought from the eshop before my console was modded. Thanks again.
