Uh, no it doesn't. First off no game without Motion Plus support asks for or receives ANY MP data at all. Therefore no non-MP game benefits even slightly from a MP controller AND MP controllers run at precisely the same speed as regular Wiimotes using those games. Games that do require MP are irrelevant since they were designed to work with the extra ones and zeroes coming from the MP Wiimote at literally the speed of light. There is NO noticeable lag due to MP. None. Never was, never will be. End of story. (Check with Dolphin devs if you still have any questions about this. This all is well documented.)
Then why do I feel noticeable lag on mine?

There's no delay in the button inputs but there definitely is lag in the motion controls.
Try using simultaneously an original wii remote and a motion plus one side by side and you'll see how the motion plus one moves smoothly but has a little more latency.

I got 2 off Amazon for $80 and checked the seller who seemed reputable (thousands of positive reviews). I highly doubt they are fake. EDIT: Both of them also have RVL-036 beneath the nunchuk connector.
I appreciate you sharing that info, but it doesn't verify anything about the legitimacy of what you purchased.

I already provided a clear example of a seller receiving overwhelmingly positive reviews when they're selling known counterfeit items, so the seller's reviews aren't a good indicator.

The fact that the seller you purchased from has such a large number of positive reviews is not a good sign since it sounds likely that they're a high-volume seller. High volumes of genuine Remote Plus controllers simply aren't available for sale these days.

The RVL-003 mistake in the copy of the mold for the plastic shell applies to the older fakes. There are newer, more convincing fakes that have RVL-036 on them.

If you can post some pics including the inside of the battery compartment that would be helpful. Also, if you still have the product packaging the controllers came in pics of that would be helpful as well.

It has nothing to do with Region lock,it has to do with the TV Signal/Output.:)

Im playing on a monitor so I don't think that would be a problem. The lag is the same on the black RVL-036 as well so even if my Mario remote was PAL I don't think it makes any difference. On a side note should I set my monitor to display Full RGB (0-255) or Limited RGB (16-235)? My Wii is on 480p

That's great, thank you very much. :)

At a glance, the black is definitely fake. The "Original Nintendo Seal of Quality" on the back of the box is a really bad copy, especially the Nintendo logo. There are other problems with the printing on the box as well. The lack of a sticker in the battery compartment is suspicious, but irrelevant since the box already gave the fake away..

The Mario one I can't say yet since I'm not already familiar with that model. I'll try to do a comparison later.

Just because the box might be unofficial doesn't mean the controller is. The build quality looks and feels identical to the Mario remote as well as the response on my Wii.
