I don't think the 3ds will be emulatable on consoles until there's a PS6 or PS7
(no real basis for this just a guess, but definitely not possible right now)

Okay is the 3ds a powerfull handheld or something?
Not really it's just that to emulate something there's an additional layer of code and this also depends on the physical components of both machines. To emulate something you generally need a device much more powerful than the device you're emulating unless the hardware is very similar (such as Nintendont iirc (technically it's not an emulator iirc because of the hardware being so similar))

Going by specs alone, the PS5 can emulate it, problem lies in architecture and OS of the system though so won't be possible until PS5 is fully understood and hackable and even then will be hard or too much work to be worth it.

Yeah that's why I said PS6 or 7 cuz by then it would be much more trivial and more realistic. Either way the wait isn't worth it lol
A halfway decent cpu is capable of 3ds emulation (tbh op might just want to snag a 3ds for like $40 at a local game store)

Let's be honest though, a new 2DS (which plays 3DS games just fine) on sale can go for like 60$, so why not buy the actual thing?:P

I'm sad emulation can't capture the ds/3ds era the same way owning one can :/. Etrian Odyssey just isn't the same
I'm convinced Nintendo actually designs their systems with this in mind. There's always some hardware component that can't be easily emulated.

the 3ds is pretty weak in comparison to other consoles. Hell, I'm sure that given the proper working, the switch could handle playing its games at mostly playable, if not perfect framerates. It wasn't far "above" the psp, to put it crudely. However, the PS2 certainly can't handle it.

The only way you are getting fullspeed is if you say f#ck the home menu due to the low ram on the ps2 and if you do something very illegal

Since I can't think of anything legal or illegal that would allow a PS2 to run a 3DS emulator at an acceptable speed, I'd love to know what illegal activity you had in mind.
