On my Switch I have many games in XCI or NSP format. The games are stored in the root directory of the microSD (formatted in exFAT and named "Switch"). The games worked well since the first versions of SX OS (NSP and XCI). In the last few months many NSP games gave me an "Corrupted data has been detected, please run a check for corrupt data" error, and I can't run them anymore. Other XCI files just can't be loaded from SX OS with the following error:
"The game card could not be read.
Please remove and reinsert it.
...."
Why this errors appeared now and never before? I'm currently on SX OS v2.9.3 and the Switch Firmware on 9.1.0.

I've already tried to install some other games, but just a few of them works, other gave me the same errors. I can't understand why some games works and other not, even if they worked before.

first thing that flags up is your using exfat when its advised to use fat32, the switch has shit exfat support.

also check the brand and size of sd card, if its a cheap large capacity clone its likely the fault too.

reformat as fat32 and it should work as long as your card is not a cheap knock off clone.

Is not a cheap SD card and it worked until last november for all the games I had on the console. Why now is not working? If I change the SD format I have to split all the XCI and NSP files < 4GB and is not a easy solution for 200 GB library of games. There is any other solution?

as or when it stopped working is bad timing.

your using exfat which is known for problems, as for not reading data but was before this is a known issue with clones.

what firmware and sx os and games are you using.

the way we look at it is, one day it was working, now its not, unless you have changed the system then the problem points to the sd card (if nothing has changed).

what brand sd card and where did you purchase.

as for splitting drop all of them onto an external usb as it supports exfat, or if you want them on internal, maybe you should have read up what format your sd card needed to be, as its like step one or so in the installation guide of sx os.

Recently I've updated the SX OS to the last available version (2.9.3) and the firmware of the Switch (9.1.0) so I can play recent games. This is the only change that I've made on my system. I've tried many games, even games like Mario Kart 8 that I've played for many hours and now is not working (same file, same update).
The SD card is a Samsung 256 EVO Plus MicroSD XC 3
Which external HDD could be used with SX OS with the Switch connected to the dock? Which is the maximum capacity of the external HDD supported by the Switch? In which format must be the external HDD?

Start with the process of elimination. Copy everything off your SD card to your computer and then reformat your card. Put only the files needed to boot OS SX and then just put one of the games on it that is currently not working and test.

Me too, but from the last updates (v2.9.3 for SX OS and v9.1.0 for Switch) it gave me this problems. On my friend's Switch happened the same.
What can it be?

Probably something happened with the SD card in this months of usage, so a clean format it could always help. I was looking for someone with the same problem to learn how can be solved.

odd considering the issue with exfat is that nintendo used crap drivers, and when such issues like this happen its more likely due to the sd card, so he says he is using exfat id point directly at that unless the sd card happens to also be a cheap fake clone.

I hope he find the problems but its not exfat that doing it .

a bad file can knock out the entire SD card or HDD .. the dark side has some such files

I have the same problem as OP.
SX OS 2.9.3, upgraded to some older version (don't remember exact figure :() on 7.0.1 to 9.1.0 with C..NX-nofuses method.
Sysnand.

Game cartridges do not work <= OK, this is a known issue that has to do with fuse burning.
But some games stopped working (perhaps all installed from XCI?) complaining about "missing data".

Just re-installing NSP seems to have helped the issue, but it looks to me there is some sort of "sigpatch" information missing, which leads to some files not being accepted as valid.

I think it probably is due to exfat, I've been using exfat since the Sxpro came out ( and still do) and in the last 18 months I've had to format my SD card a couple of times, but for me it's a price worth paying so I don't have to split files.

have you been using SX Autoloader ? I think the older version could cause problems.

how do you copy the games on to your SD card ?, do you take your sd card out of your switch and use a SD card reader in your PC ? ,or use FTP or thru USB etc ? . I think this might be the cause of many corrupt sd cards

I normally copy the game on to an external SSD drive and using a OTG cable connected to the switch, then use SXinstaller to copy the game from the SSD drive and paste it onto the SD card.

maybe the way you copied the games on to your sdcard before, you was lucky and your sd card wasn't corrupted but unlucky this onetime :unsure:something a game, when your turned your switch off or when you copied a file it's corrupted your card this time.

I've tried to format in exFAT again and it gives me the same errors. Probably I should move on FAT32.
I've also tried Goldenleaf on SX OS 2.9.3 but it crashes every time I've try to install a game via USB, why?

Splitting is not a problem. But what then? Does SXOS support installing split NSPs?
Actually the Switch OS is designed so that if you put split files in a folder named correctly, and mark the folder/files as archive, it's seen as a single file across the OS and all homebrew using the standard API. And there are tools released that will do this for you. I'm not sure it SX OS also works this way when it comes to XCIs, but in any case SX OS has its own format for split XCIs so that's not an issue.

It's faster and more convenient (since no need to turn the console off to take out the SD) to use USB installs though.

Which is the best USB installer for SX OS? I’ve tried Goldenleaf but it crashes every time I tried to install a game

Been there done that...
At some point you've booted into OFW and tried to run the games.
You need to remove the game from the system memory and then it should work again.
