50USD isn't bad, particularly compared to the everdrive, but I do already have an everdrive, so my threshold is lower. I was hoping for a price in the low 30 range.
huh for some reason it went to canadian dollars. must have had my vpn on. well thanks

Like i mentioned before the price is not set yet people are just using a filler for now

i do not believe it will retail for over $100 ( pretty sure)

Wait until mid or end of this ( coming) week for to see for sure

I can also sell you guys one when i get them in , ill probably include a 16 gb micro sd card as a bonus for the remainder of the year

I am fairly sure it'll retail considerably below $50, tbh. Which is very affordable and about the same price as an ElCheapo SD card (which is available at ~$40). I'll just wait and see what the price will be, though. If it'll be considerably less than an ElCheapo, I might get one.

An SD card is the last thing I need.

whoever is interested in still buying can also buy it here ( for people in USA)

https://staticcore.myshopify.com/products/ez-flash-junior?variant=31575825711179

i don't expect anyone to be shipping them until very early next year, some people may ship them late this year ( maybe 30th or 31st) but i wouldn't have expectations for those that are ordering these online at the moment to physically have them until early next year

Hmm... the only micro SD cards I can spare are 128GB. I wonder if a proper-size partition would work or not as with flashcarts that doesn't always work for... some reason? Even though it should?

Doubtful. The limits are SDHC carts where that would be SDXC which has some different addressing, more complicated than basic SDHC which if you are already relying on a a GB/GBC you don't tax it more than necessary.

I would need just shy of 22 gigabytes to store it, albeit compressed, a significant chunk of that probably being the N64 and GBA. Did a token search on everybody's least enjoyed river named online shop and it is sub $10 for a 2 pack of 32 gigs from a reasonable maker if you wanted. I am sure if you wandered over to a place selling old mobile phones then they would probably let you have a small one or trade it for a pack of sweeties.

@gnatydnac where is it available to buy? I frequently check taobao for it but cant find it, if you have any links they're much appreciated. i don't mind buying from chinese sites
I think you can't pay on those chinese website, they use always phone Alipay or local bank cards...
in fact 90% resellers of ez jr are from China

Even if you copy all unzipped GB/GBC Roms in, maybe they'll not take up over 4GB

Exactly. Even you are able to pay for that, mostly they'll not post overseas. By the way, alibaba is somewhat different from other platform, it has his own financial system(Zhifubao), people save money in it from bank and pay directly. In addition, you can scan QR code by Zhifubao APP in almost all the places that payment is required in China.

uh...? I've got most of if not all of these No-Intro sets, and a compressed (.7z) backup of them is almost 50GB, raw being 60-80GB, can't remember off the top of my head. The DMG and GBC sets are well under 4GB.

(also a lot of those are outdated as hell, so there is that...)

As for the SD argument, the onboard hardware is an FPGA of some sort emulating MBC, ROM, SRAM, etc. so that it can read/write files to/from SD. There's no extra "taxing" here. The hardware variance might be an issue, but they're pretty close to each other internally (being standardized microSD cards), so it shouldn't be too hard to include SDXC access, if it isn't handlable by SDHC code (is it "code" in terms of an FPGA?) by default. If I limit partition size, that should be all that would matter, since the filesystem would be the proper size and empty space should be ignored...

then again FPGAs are hard to work with so i dunno

To be fair that torrent is likely a goodmerge set or all in one with the highest possible dictionary size where most takes on no-intro's lists are individual or region dupes at best. Those things can get tiny, and yes it was old even when I got that for a now old post but it is not like many new games get made for most of those. Still as you mention the full size if you can have the entire library 5 times over and still have space to spare on 32 gigs then even with homebrew and ROM hacks it is not likely to trouble capacity which is where I was mainly heading.

While the FGPA is likely handling a lot if they expose the card for homebrew of some form it gets more fun, as well as having to do some form of write verification (the cart is not necessarily going to know the contents of memory, though they might be able to fake something. For the file list will probably also have to read something and store that in memory (how many times have we seen large directories trouble hacked devices, or indeed devices that are supposed to handle it), which gets even more fun if you get to have unicode names or some such. This in addition to needing 10 different access protocols (note also what I presume to be the lack of original SD capability*), sector sizes, file systems and beyond, as well as a means of detecting it.

*I wonder what it will be like in say 10 years when SDHC is some kind of legacy format like SD is today (seen the price of 2 gig SDs in recent times? Most of those usually being used for embedded devices too).

Either way I would agree it is a limitation but one that is unlikely to trouble too many and has roots in solid electrical engineering/programming.

Most sites are shipping from China, like the shop I bought from http://www.mod3dscard.com, they ever send you ezflash omega from USA, but the new EZflash Junior, they say it's still in shipping to their USA warehouse. So I finally choose Free Delivery and got a tracking number today.

I use an agent so they send the stuff to a warehouse and then they send it to me, have had no problems buying from taobao/xianyu that way, though I did try and get something from 7788 and they didn't support that site. Found a taobao store that sold the Jr for $25 and ordered it anyway :)

This isn't an NDS flashcart with DLDI, I doubt homebrew's gonna get access to the SD card as that'd break a lot of shit and literally 0 homebrew has that ability as of now. That'd also require breaking MBC behavior, as you'd either have to use ROM banks or SRAM banks to have the cart put it in memory, which real games and unsupportive homebrew may not expect. The cart handles all that and loads the ROM into either a dedicated SRAM chip or some other temporary storage to hold the ROM until poweroff, since SD access times wouldn't allow for the required bankswitch speed. As for the names part, it supports partial Unicode or is using a Chinese charset as the screenshots people have seen have Chinese ROM names.

Also, again, there's 3 protocols at most, not 10, since the three tiers of SD card are standardized specifically so there isn't a fuckton of required protocols to support. Most SD cards are backwards-compatible as well; my NDS flashcart supposedly only supports 16GB SDHC cards or lower, but I have a 64GB SDXC in there and it just accepts it if the only partition is FAT32, ends before the 16GB mark on the drive, and begins before or at the 64MB mark on the drive.

I don't know how it would break things if things get remade/altered to handle it and probably have some kind of flag or custom normally unsupported/undefined command (see some of their EZ3 SDK) to indicate/activate it. DLDI got backported to the GBA and a few other systems have gained similar abilities with various flash carts and methods over the years, and I am sure the save dumper set (possibly something with a link cable and multiboot) or possibly the LSDJ set would appreciate being able to peel off the results of their efforts. Technically there are emulators as well ( https://forums.nesdev.com/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=11490 ) but those were mostly proof of concept. For quasi DLDI you could probably boost the abstraction or use a seriously lesser checksum for the write verification but still enough that I would not want to implement it. I might well be speculating upon things that are never going to happen but "build for the future you want" is a thing that is done, and something the EZTeam have done a fair few times in the past to their benefit (most notably with the 3 in 1 but there were ones before and after).

Yeah you could probably shrink the list a bit (the tiers themselves each have a couple but those are mostly ultra simple/recovery, though you do get some out of spec stuff as well) but at the same time we have seen far more potent consoles and devices tripped up by having to navigate the various options and here it would gain very little. Maybe it will come down to partition size and location but I have just as many devices that refuse to play (usually embedded cameras, wildlife and dashcam being the main ones).

Partial is likely just the standard expanded table lookup. Start having to filter (never mind interpret) unicode RTL commands and whatever else to match ROM to save and it gets fun fast.

The EZTeam sent GBAtemp one and it arrived earlier today. I will have a proper first impressions up later as it seems my SD reader decided "lights are on but nobody home" was a better way of living.

For the meantime some fancy PCB shots, click for larger. Between them all should have most of the chip markings, certainly the interesting ones.
