If you use hekate to boot, you need the sigpatches from Joonie. You can find the link to the sigpatches at the latest Kosmos release.

Thanks for the reply!

I don't know if we're making progress here, but I kept googling and found a post with someone like me that needed to put the keys file in the root of the SD card, I did that and now when I try to launch the game from tinfoil it won't say "unable to start software", but now I'm getting error 2155-8007.

I've read about that error and it seems like my console failed to check for the game online or something? Anyway, is there anything I should try to bypass this?

If your console is unpatched, you can hack it on any firmware. Atmosphere works for the latest firmware (9.1.0).

Getting sick of Atmosphere moving files around without explicitly saying how to properly update.

Hekate just says "drag n drop bootloader folder into sd card root and hit replace. No need to delete that folder first, especially if you want your configs and payloads."

What about Atmosphere 0.10.1? Should I just delete the whole old "atmosphere" folder first?

How do I even use these new config templates?

Edit: Deleting the whole folder would also delete the following folders:
automatic_backups
crash_reports
fatal_reports
titles

Should I keep these?

First, Atmosphere is very clear about the changes, and they happened for good reason.

If you want to edit the BCT configuration file, it's in \atmosphere\config
Anything else can be found in \atmosphere\config_templates, and then it needs to be moved into \atmosphere\config

Unless there's something you don't like about the default settings, I recommended deleting the \atmosphere\ folder each time you update.

My issue is with the lack of clarity on how to update.
I have some tiny tweaks, but it's hard to compare old and new files when they also change their names.
In case anyone is looking for the same thing: "loader.ini" has been renamed to "override_config.ini"

What about the folders that will also be deleted? Like the "titles" one and its contents?

Update: The changelog for 0.10.0 has much more info about these changes. Here's hoping that the "titles" migration function works for me.

I've done that before with the atmosphere files in that link (I'm assuming the kosmos patches are not for me since I'm running vanilla atmosphere).

By the way, I'm just downloading the atmosphere files, extracting them inside the atmosphere folder and overwriting everything.

I will extract them at the root this time and see how it goes! Will report back

From Atmosphere's "system_settings.ini":
Code:
; Disable uploading error reports to Nintendo
[eupld]
; upload_enabled = u8!0x0
So, disabling this line disables the uploads, right?
But it was enabled on previous releases...

Cannot figure out how to change the button shortcut to open hbmenu from L to R.
I've placed a copy of "override_config.ini" (which was previously called "loader.ini") on the "config" folder and edited it, but it refuses to work.

Edit: L, LZ and RZ work, but not R. I'm confused. :\

Edit #2: The problem is that the hbmenu now overrides the gallery by default, but I can't see to be able to reverse this behaviour.

Edit #3: Figured it out, had to remove the exclamation marks from the buttons. I was still looking at the ini file as if the default behaviour was not opening hbmenu.

(Sorry, I messed up and quoted myself instead of editing my post...)

Ok guys, my new switch is arived right now. I moved my account from the old switch to the new one. Now I have to choose which cfw install to the old switch. Basically I want to play games backups and install HBG/shop. I can do this on every cfw? I know there is a cfw to buy, what are the disadvatages to install a free one?

You can play game backups and install HBG on any CFW. Atmosphere is recommended, and it is free.

Atmoshpere can read game's backups from external hard disk?
No, with any free CFW, you will need to install your backups to a microSD card and/or your Switch's internal storage. You can install backups to your microSD card or internal storage using NSP files on a USB, but you cannot play from a USB-connected device. If you want to load backups from a device connected via USB, you need SX OS.

You asked if you could play game backups and install HBG. The answer is yes.

Extracting those to the root didn't change anything... what else could I try? The thing that bothers me the most is why I can launch mario kart but not any of the others I tried so far.... And I have downloaded DQ XI like three times now

Any NAND you're using to play game backups should meet one or more of these requirements:
  1. It should be disconnected from the internet.
  2. It should have Incognito installed.
  3. It should have 90DNS installed.
If you're doing none of these, you will receive update prompts, and you will be permanently banned from some or all of Nintendo's online services.

I am using 90DNS, this started ever since I started using it because I had to connect to my wi-fi to enable it. I didn't launch any non-signed software during the period of wi-fi enabled and 90DNS settings being input but now im regretting it because I hate this update prompt

You can clear the update by entering Recovery Mode (not RCM). If you actually have 90DNS installed, then the update prompt won't return.

You can also enable 90DNS without connecting to the internet beforehand. All you have to do is connect to a wireless access point, input the wrong password, save the settings, add the DNS settings, and then correct the password.

As for what you did while you were connected to the internet without 90DNS, that's irrelevant. If you have any pirated games installed while connected to the internet, you can very much be flagged for it and banned from Nintendo services, regardless of what you launched.

First of all, thanks for replying!

I'm using these: https://github.com/Joonie86/hekate/releases/tag/5.0.0J which I both extracted to the root and atmosphere folders, to no avail so far.

Edit: Btw I'm using the atmosphere files, not the kosmos ones.

For whatever it's worth I'm running on emunand 9.1, latest hetake and atmosphere releases, installed games using tinfoil+nut, and got the games in the reddit sub. I followed the nh guide from start to finish, using a 32gb class 10 card.

Hi o/

I'm here for a random / noob question, but I really need some advice here;
I've a hacked Switch (updated to 9.0.1 iirc, atmosphere) offline all the time. No issue at all or anything.

But I'd like to go online for like 10 seconds. I'd like to "dowlonad" / load the Pokemon Sword / Shield event.

I can't do emunand and I can't use another switch atm. I've ofc homebrew (it's the only thing i've on my Switch)

What can I do to be the safest as possible since I really need the events to test a few things on my save.

Thanks o/
