Hardware Wii u 160-1400 error - No Disk

Hi mates !!!
I had the same problem with a Wii U unit I've bought faulty.
When powered on after 2~3 seconds of blue light it went to a blinking red light and black screen (apparently when it was trying to access the DVD drive). Even knowing that the DVD is bonded to the motherboard by a key, I've bought a working dvd unit for testing.
With the new DVD unit the Wii U turns on, but display the 160-1400(without a DVD drive plugged)/160-1402(with the new DVD drive plugged in) error that means disparity on the DVD drive key.
Without nothing to loose I've replace two IC's on the DVD motherboard ( the ones I've suspect that the key was recorded ). The results aren't great, now the Wii U is presenting the same error as when bought as faulty.
My next step would be resolder 1 IC from the working board in a hope of identifying which is faulty or even resolder the old ones to be sure that I really have a faulty IC in my board.
When I got home later I'll post the pictures of my motherboards.

I fixed this problem.
I disassembled Wii U and found that traces from dvd-rom go to CPU.
I reflowed cpu on my bga station and it is working now.
I also put a new thermal paste.
Just reflow CPU !!!

I've got busy and will start working again into this.
Dude I don't believe a reflow will solve this problem, cause if the bga was the problem the wiiU would not boot with the new drive, it should behave the same with any drive.
I was reading a bit about the guys unlocking the system and it seems that is possible to read the drive key, although I'm not sure if is possible to extract the key from the drive and write it to the SEEPROM.
I believe I know which ICs he is talking about :
You can see in one of the pictures that there is one IC that I'm pretty sure it is the memory ( RAM and you don't need to replace it, I did just for testing ) and in the other there is where the firmware ( and where the key would be recorded ) that IC is the one we are interested in.
If you are looking to fix yours just remove that IC where supposedly the firmware is from your original PCB and solder it into a new PCB ( make sure to buy a PCB that is the exact same model as yours ).
I CAN NOT guarantee that it will work, but I have read about people who replaced and it worked.
In my case when soldering the "Firmware IC" the console doesn't turn on it stays with a red light, if I replace it by the one from the new drive the console turns on and stuck with error 160-1402
I am 100% sure that the "Firmware IC" is faulty on my PCB, 'cause I have desoldered it several times to make sure that the problem was not into my soldering.
The idea behind this post is to find someone out there that has a Wii U and two drives to test this theory and confirm that it works and the ICs I'm mentioning are the right ones.
Also another possibility would be a software approach :
I have seen that is possible to dump SEEPROM & OTP and there we can find where the DVD drive key is stored and according to @The Real Jdbye change it.
To bring my Wii U from the other-world I could do a hardmod and dump my SEEPROM, but the real challenge here would be dump the key from the new drive and rewrite it into my SEEPROM
OR spoof the key from my console into the new drive.If anyone out there has an idea just let me know please

Did you check what are those 8 pin chips? They look like serial flash but i can't read their names.

I was unsure about those chips I had almost changed them.

well i thought it answered your question and it wasnt a joke. I didnt laugh when i threw out mine.
really its the only thing thats left to do, coz its not fixable and wiiu in that condition is no better than a brick. tried all possible solutions that I could find on the web. tried different repair services around town. nothin helped.
so its up to you... laugh or do as I did-Throw it in the thash.

congrats!!! yes its indeed hardware problem.mine might be just different problem. i have also changed dvd drive. tried married board. technician inspected pcbs... no luck. in the end it was much cheaper to buy replacement console which i got around $50... funny thing was that getting replacement wii u game pad was much expensive than console itself
