This is my first time homebrewing my nintendo switch. I'm only homebrewing solely for editing Pokemon Shield. What are measures I can do to make sure I can still go on my switch normally without extra steps and still go online in the game and into the nintendo store?

Also which homebrew should i use?

I bought an RCM Clip, a Micro SD Card reader, I have a type C to usb cable, I have a 128GB micro sd card, is there anything else I need?

Do I have to buy a second nintendo switch to go online? or can I go online with my homebrewed switch?

If I apply custom firmware, play offline in emuend, and don't use RCM, is it possible to get Ban if I play online on the original firmware through the game cartridge?

Hi all,

I have a question about Switch motherboard and hacking.
My switch is not charging anymore and have sent it to Nintendo.
Nintendo says that the motherboard needs to be changed and ask 180 euros for that (!)
but that's not the issue...
My question is by changing the motherboard, is that a possibility that I can't use the RCM exploit anymore?
Of course my switch is originally an unpatched one.

thank you for your lights!

cheers
Yes, Nintendo can send you back a patched console.

My switch is banned from internet, is it still possible to do the system reset?
You should not need Internet to perform a factory reset.

So I'm trying to figure out the safest way to put 90DNS on my currently always-offline hacked emuMMC (sysMMC is legit and undefiled). But it seems that in order to input 90DNS IP addresses you must first disable Airplane mode AND connect to a network. Needless to say I don't want to do this as I would instantly be exposed to Nintendo's servers before I got a chance to input the DNS IP addresses. Is there another way to do this??
While you're entering the Wi-Fi settings, you change the DNS settings to match those of 90DNS.

Do I need to uninstall my EmuNAND and turn off autoRCM before doing a factory reset? Also will I be able to mod it as normal after doing a factory reset?
No and no. It should be normal after the factory reset.

If I apply custom firmware, play offline in emuend, and don't use RCM, is it possible to get Ban if I play online on the original firmware through the game cartridge?
Assuming you do not use CFW or homebrew online then a ban is highly unlikely.

Hey, sorry for the nooby questions but I have ZERO Switch hacking experience but a lot of 3ds hacking experience, albeit a bit older experience. There are some things I NEED to know before I dive in and decide to do anything with my switch. To note: I have a launch day switch on most current firmware

First off, can I (I assume through a sysNAND and an emuNAND) keep my actual Nintendo account/switch profile legit, unhacked, and 100% safe and OK to go online as if I never hacked my switch and use it as I always have, with no risk of bans? And on the flip side can I have a whole separate thing for custom stuffs?

Second, my current driving force for wanting to mod my switch is Pokemon. I have a physical copy, and want to know if I can keep my current save (realistically all of my saves) on my main profile as legit. But on top of that, I want to know if I can extract my save on my legit profile, get it on a PC or something to, say, clone Pokemon and then put it back in my "legit profile area" and have it safe to still use as such? Note, no plans to use hacked Pokemon online or anything. Just want to be able to clone.

On top of all of that, if the answers to all that is favorable, what is the recommended route I would need to go to achieve all of that?

Thank you in advanced.:D
(Sort of bump)Anyone able to answer the rest of my questions?

Hi, quick question, I readed that charging the Switch in RCM (AutoRCM) is broken, it charges slowly or either at fast-slow-fast-slow pace, is charging like this risky for the battery health or it doesn't matter? I'm depleting the battery once a month because I have the Switch always in the dock, just to give it some battery use because it seems having the thing always at 100% without use at all isn't good.

Thank you!

If you mean just dump your save data and have a copy on your PC, that should be fine but I wouldn't do this online as that is detectable since the save data will conflict with what data Nintendo has collected.

It is considered risky because RCM can drain the battery to a lower level than the normal OS, Horizon. If you want to drain the battery, do it while normally using the console.

How would that conflict with Nintendo's data? Are my saves not private? Basically what I'm asking is this: Assuming I used emuNAND for cfw stuff and sysNAND for normal firmware/online, if I extract my save from my sysNAND and then edit it, say make 3 copies of (insert specific Pokemon here) then put it back in my sysNAND, it should be fine to use as normal, no?

Because you are editing the save file. Dumping and making copies of it is fine as Nintendo can't really track its distribution unless you give it to someone else but any modifications can and will be noticed.

I don't understand how? And I'd like to state right away I'm not trying to be combative here or anything, just trying to understand. So saves are stored on the system correct? Why is any modification to them something they would see? They aren't constantly monitoring every single save file on every person's switch, are they? And on top of that, what is to say it wasn't a natural modification? I just don't see how that is something realistically trackable I guess.

Then think of it this way, which is more worth it to you, the online functionality of your $300 console or a few bytes of data?

Well, the answer to that is clear lol. But that also doesn't explain to me why that is the case, which is something I'd very much like to know. :P

To put it lightly, the Switch is a telemetry monster. Even the developers behind ReSwitched agree that tampering with Pokemon save data is asking for a ban.

Hello all....
I didn't get an answer on the first try so I try again, I can't understand why.........

I have problems with a couple of game updates that were released recently.
They show up as white icons in sxos install and give error when I try to install them...
Not all updates do this just these games :

Zelda_Links_Awakening_Update_[v1.0.1] [v65536].nsp
Mario and Sonic at the Olympic Games Tokyo 2020 Update [v1.0.1]
Ice Age Scrats Nutty Adventure Update [v1.0.1] [v65536]
Luigis Mansion 3 Update [v1.1.0] [v65536].nsp

I have downloaded the update files from three diffrent sites, but all the same white icon and error when trying to install.
Anyone know why this happen? I cant find any answers to this problem, is it just me this happen to?
My switch is on the latest firmware 9,01 and the latest sxos 2,92. All my xci are installed on the sd-card and not mounted.....

Hmm, ok, interesting. One final thing then for now
Let's say I had access to a second switch. Could I trade a Pokemon using local communication to it, use THAT switch's Pokemon save to clone, then trade the clones to the first switch's save and be fine on the first switch's save for online and such?

Hi. Getting my kids a switch for Xmas. Look for info on hacking and downloading games. Did two 3ds last year and kids loved them. Had 50+ games on the sd card. Looking on doing the same but I don't have a clue about a switch. Best guide to install cfw or what I need to play downloads game on sd card. All help is appreciated.

The guide pretty much covers everything.

Except getting games. You're on your own there.

One thing that's very different now with the Switch than any other hackable Nintendo console is that it's very very easy to get banned. I didn't even bother hacking until just the other day because in that past while some better safeguard solutions (like emuNAND and 90DNS) have come about at last. Basically, if you don't want to get banned you have to put your console into airplane mode and never go online. If you ever go online with homebrew you will be banned. The only safeguards are covered in the guide. You can use 90DNS to block communication to Nintendo servers with DNS IP address entries or say use an emuNAND that never goes online and is always in airplane mode and used solely for homebrew and leave your sysNAND legit and never tainted. A ban is a console ban and if it ever happens your whole Switch is useless online (eShop, multiplayer, etc) and you'll need another whole system if you want to continue online use. Also, if you accidentally go online and get banned in your emuNAND, your sysNAND will be banned as well because it's a console ban and every console has a unique identifier whether you're using emuNAND or sysNAND.
