More Info Regarding Switch (Mariko/Lite) Mods by Team-Xecuter

ub3r1337's first impressions from a direct demo of TX upcoming new hardware mods!
SXMODS.png

ub3r1337 recently meet with TX to have them demo to him their upcoming new mods for the Switch (patched, mariko and lite). Unfortunately, he didn't get any pictures, but he says they'll be coming later on. Even so, he shared some of this new information at MaxConsole, also shown below:
First Off: It is a hardware mod. TX went back to its roots, and this solution is a device you need to install inside your Switch. :)

From what we could tell the install looks ultra simple and almost plug and play. When pushed about the install requirements, TX held back from claiming its fully solder-less, stating clearly that this particular design will always benefit from a few simple solder connections, versus the original intent of fully solder-less (at least for the classic model which is the unit we got to inspect).

In other words, a fully solder-less install is potentially possible with the classic models however it is not recommended by TX due to long term reliability concerns (we will cover this more in-depth at a later date, once we have our preview unit in our hands and put it thru some tests)

Second Point: There is one device for Patched and Mariko unit which is probably under production (see point three) and should be available soon :) They plan to release 2 devices; one for all classic versions (original, patch and mariko) and one for the Switch Lite.

Third Point: I really pushed for a release date, but TX refused to confirm anything during our meeting. From what I understood, even though it seems to be currently under production, because all sorts of things can occur in the factory during production, they will not commit to a date to me or their resellers until they are certain they can deliver on time enough stock to meet the demand.

I guess I can only respect that, this is probably why they did not announce anything yet, and we should know more once it is finally officially announced on their TX website.
At some point ub3r1337 hopes to get some pictures and videos from TX and a review unit, but we have no clue when that will happen. For now we just have to sit and wait for some more news regarding these new TX hardware mods to appear online!

maybe so but helping people do that when it hurts developers after they spend years creating titles for us to enjoy only to not even pay a thing for them is kind of a middle finger to them. Plus that thing cost as much as a switch game so why not support the devs instead of pirating the games?

Schrödinger's Exploit

In other words, until the Exploit is proven, the exploit's state is completely unknown and therefore, the exploit is considered to be both real and fake news at the same time until it is observed.

Not really, Schrödinger can only be applied if there´s no information.
In our case, TX has already proven that they can do modchips for various consoles in the past so it is kinda "safe" to say that they already managed to get CFW running on those Switch units otherwhise they wouldn´t give out informations like that.

TX Havant given or provided any information or proof, gee’s it’s not even on their front page news which they say you will find anything there first.. the only info we have is a couple Unknown’s saying they’ve seen it working.. Time will tell

Do you think this mod will work in every Switch Lite or just in those with the oldest firmware (8.0.1)?

I know we can only speculate, but I have a Switch Lite (version 8.1.1; it was the firmware that came out of the box) and I'm afraid that maybe it won't work in my console. Also, I really want to play PK and it requires an update to link my account (to be able to play online). I don't want to update, for obvious reasons but I also want to play online.

Just wait till any news appear . Then you will act regarding the situation . OR you just can return or sell your switch and buy hackable switch (so you wont wait for the hack ) or wait with the money (this give you chance to buy a classic switch (not lite ) in case the hack wont work) .

--------------------- MERGED ---------------------------

I bought my switch (firmware 8.0.1 marico unit) before any rumors and news . So i am just waiting .

no way to know of course but if history is any guide then i would say it will support all FW to date or else we would have heard something from TX telling people not to update
remember when GW had an exploit for the new 3DS they got the word out to not update past 9.x ( i think it was 9.0 ,9.1 or 9.2) if you wanted to use GW
TX wants customers if their exploit was in any way limited to a specific FW range then i strongly suspect that they would have either told us directly or leaked something through one of their back channels to preserve their maximum customer potential

That´s not what i said, i said that TX has done such things IN THE PAST, you can say they got a reputation when it comes to modchips and they always kept their promises.
So, imo it´s plausible to believe TX when they claim they found a hardware exploit and preparing a launch.

Sure we can´t be 100% sure but it´s a huge difference WHO makes such claims, a new company with no history in modding consoles or a company which is in the business for over a decade and delivered working products

I believe waiting is the smartest decision, but also the hardest...

It really makes sense.

Thank you both for the replies. :)

My guess is, there IS a further exploit - and TX have been extremely lucky in finding it.

However, I`m thinking it will be hardware-based.

From what I can gather, there appears to be a way to glitch the Tegra into running unsigned code, from a power-on scenario.

A bit like the fusee-gelee exploit, but rather than being triggered by pushing a payload and corrupting the stack, using improper ipatches, this one will be more akin to the RGH hack in X360.

They must be glitching a line to make the Tegra think it has dementia and running a payload to it, again via RCM.

But this method is neither consistent or guaranteed and will require hardware to connect to whatever point they are exploiting(in X360, it was the reset line, a 200mS pulse high if I remember correctly.

This new one will be doing something similar. But they probably cannot get the timings sorted, and due to production errors, every unit may require a different "pulse".

They will NOT have found a new exploit in Horizon. TX are good, but they are not THAT good.

None of this is fact, just my opinion based on what I have managed to scavenge on the web

Do you think it's going to require soldering on the lite model as well? If so, which soldering iron would you recommend?
