Alright, so I hacked my Wii using MauiFrog's guide for 4.2 using Smashstack when it was still relevant. I dusted off the ol' thing and decided to take one of those nostalgia trips and the old Wiimote was showing signs of aging and went off to buy a new one. Turns out I never updated shit back then since I was pretty much comfortable with what I got and everything was working fine.

I read about a bug that CFG Loader had where it only can be controlled using the wiimote you first used and was patched and updated along the way but I couldn't update it since the mem card I used apparently got a virus that I couldn't for the life me get rid off.

So my question is, I plan on buying a new mem card replacing the bugged one but what do I need to put in it? Not sure if it's just a simple drag and drop since I believe everything that makes it hacked is already in the system itself and the card is just for channels(?). Think anyone can point me in the right direction?

Hello.:)

new mem card

You mean the SD Card with the Homebrew Applications,BootMii and so on ?
If yes, please do yourself a Favour and buy a REGULAR SD Card and please not a microSD with Adapter. It maybe saves you Troubles and Nerves.
Please format the new SD Card with FAT32.

Yes,you can copy your Content from the old SD Card 1:1 to the new SD Card.As you say,Drag andDrop.

If you want to update your Wii/your Softmod, you have many Choices:

- Update the Wii System Software to 4.3x (if you like,it is not "vital" necessary...:D).

or

- You can Update the USB Loader or replace it with one or all of these:

- USBLoader GX (v3.0 r1272)
- Configurable USBLoader v70 r78.11
- WiiFlow v5.2.0

or

- You can make a complete Softmod Update.
Please do a sysCheck first:
https://gbatemp.net/threads/posting-a-system-check.300279/

and then you can use @XFlak ModMii to update the Softmod
https://gbatemp.net/threads/modmii-for-windows-official-support-topic.207126/

or

- You can go directly into ModMii´s Wizard and make a guided Softmod Update if you like.

or

- You can use a WAD Manager like MultiMod Manager or WiiMod Lite and update only cIOSes 249 + 250 (needed for Game Load and USBLoaders)

You see,you have many Options to proceed. It is your Chioce.:)

Good Luck.
Thank you.:)

My bad, I did mean SD Card.

I didn't use a micro SD card back then since it was recommended to use an ol' fat SD card. The thing with copy and pasting from the SD card already in the Wii to a new one is that it's bugged to all hell. Not sure if it's a virus or it just broke but it only shows as read only and I've tried literally everything to fix/format it and pretty much can't do anything with it.

Someone suggested restoring the Wii to it's factory setting but not sure what to do after, I'm guessing using ModMii?

PLEASE DO NOT FACTORY RESET YOUR WII !!!

Yes,the Safest and Simplest Solution for the Update is ModMii.:)
Please use the Wizard, read careful and in calm and peace and it should work.

Thank you.:)
