Ok, I just tried a CHD myself with Final Fight (USA) for Sega CD and it worked fine, CDDA audio and all.

Here are the details...

- No CUE file is needed for CHDs. This info is already contained in the CHD.
- I converted to CHD from a Redump multi-bin image with chdman.exe (it comes with the official MAME download).
- If you're using playlists, point directly to the CHD file. No sub-folders necessary, you can keep them all in the same folder.

Here's an example playlist entry using the newer XML playlist format:

{
"path": "sd:/ROMs/Sega - Mega CD - Sega CD/Final Fight CD (USA).chd",
"label": "Final Fight CD (USA)",
"core_path": "sd:/retroarch/cores/genesis_plus_gx_libretro.rpx",
"core_name": "Sega - MS/GG/MD/CD (Genesis Plus GX)",
"crc32": "3AE8431E",
"db_name": "Sega - Mega CD - Sega CD.lpl"
},

If you're still having problems it may lie elsewhere (ie, not having the proper BIOS files).

I figured it out as well. When Retro Arch Playlist buddy created the playlist the path was SD...…
I cant believe this but the issue was simply the fact that the path SD was in caps. Once I changed it so lower case sd the playlist work without issue.

{
"path": "sd:/retroarch/downloads/Sega - Mega-CD - Sega CD/Brutal - Paws of Fury.chd",
"label": "Brutal - Paws of Fury",
"core_path": "sd:/retroarch/cores/genesis_plus_gx_libretro.rpx",
"core_name": "Sega - MS/GG/MD/CD (Genesis Plus GX)",
"crc32": "3861B809|crc",
"db_name": "Sega - Mega-CD - Sega CD.lpl"
},
{
"path": "SD:/retroarch/downloads/Sega - Mega-CD - Sega CD/Lunar I - The Silver Star.chd",
"label": "Lunar I - The Silver Star",
"core_path": "DETECT",
"core_name": "DETECT",
"crc32": "DETECT",
"db_name": "Sega - Mega-CD - Sega CD.lpl"
},

Can I run CPS3 on Wii U? If so, how? Last I knew, FBA and FB Neo only ran CPS1, 2 and NeoGeo.

Also: is there any way to run the 32X on the Wii U? Thought Picodrive was ported, but turned out it wasn't. I really like the 32X Space Harrier and After Burner 2 ports...

Hi. All the few CPS3 games run fine on Wii U FBA, FBA 2012 or FBA neo cores. Juste use the 'No-CD' versions of roms (i.e sfiiin, sfiii2n, jojoban,...)

32X doesn't work unfortunately I don't know why picodrive core hasn't been ported yet for the WiiU.

Is there a way to remap controllers for games and not affect the menu controls every time? Also, every other time I come back to the game I have to remap to my likeness again and its annoying.

I'd like to be able to save my remaps for particular games in order that every time I come back to play the games my remaps take over and it would be ideal it these remaps do not affect the retroarch menu interface controls.

Is this doable?

Go to Settings > Input and turn off something like "Menu controls and game controls are the same". I don't remember the real name but you'll find it easily. It's next to all users control menu and etc.

For the second one, there's literally an option for that. Once you open up a game, open menu and yoully be at the game's quick menu. Go to Controls. There you can remap controls to your liking and you can save said remap as well. You can save it to game-specific, core-specific, and content folder. Once you open the game, it can load automatically. Find whatever suits you best.

I will try these tonight. Thank you!

please, for the love of god, i need help!!!!!
i'm 4 full days trying to figure it out, how to make my snes usb adapter to work with retroarch on my wii u.
I know to set it to work with hidtovpad app, but as i try to use it and then open retroarch, i just get black screen all the time, so, i think the for this route, i'll not get anything. Then i thought on getting it to work directly inside retroarch, without the use of the hidtovpad app, but i'm unable to find a way to do it.
My retroarch doesn't even recognize my usb adapter, what am i doing wrong ? please, help!!!!

Does anyone happen to know if the HYPERKIN ProCube works with this? I know it doesn’t work with Nintendont, but is that because it’s vWii (compared to this which is Wii U mode right?)?

If it's connected to WiiU as WiiU PRO Controller it should work. Try to configure it under Retroarch Input devices and see.

hidtovpad doesn't work with Retroarch (black screen like you saw) and iirc Retroarch used to have hid support built in but was removed because of errors :/ sorry mate.

EDIT: I cant guarantee it'll work but you can try an older version of Retroarch WiiU (before the hid implementation was removed) Try version 1.6.9 maybe? but expect some potential stability errors :P

Umm, its been awhile but I think you had to change the max amount of users in Retorarch in settings/input then enable your adapter in settings/input/user binds (cycle through the user device index till you see your adapter).

also make sure you adapter is connected to the console before you boot Retroarch up.

EDIT: try to change user index on user device 2 first, trying to change user device index 1 may disable your WiiU gamePad controls in Retroarch making you need to delete your Retroarch.cfg to fix :P

Thanks but I don't have it yet. Trying to decide what to buy.

I guess really, my question is this:
On the Wii (and vWii) using third-party controllers and Wii Remotes doesn't work. Is this the case with Pro Controllers and Wii Remotes on Wii U homebrew?

Thanks!

Anybody has more info on the arcade compatibility ? Most games seem to crash. Neogeo ones seem to work fine on FB Alpha, but besides that there's a lot of good games that won't work even on FB Alpha (Alien vs Predator for instance)

Also, what is the latest really stable version on Wii U ?

All CPS1, CPS2 and CPS3 games work fine on Wii U Retroarch. Sometimes you have to try (FBA 2012) or (FBA Neo) core.
Here is the latest version as of today : https://buildbot.libretro.com/stable/1.8.1/nintendo/wiiu/RetroArch_rpx.7z

@PainToad sorry mate I can't confirm that information as I don't have any 3rd party controller to try. But my guess is that they should work.

anyone figure out how to get screenshots to work properly? it outputs a png properly, but when viewed it is corrupt (kind of how a jacked up hdmi signal looks)

also, does anyone know if there is any developer exclusively working on the wiiu port? I would love to know if anyone got gyro controls working for the awesome gba games like warioware twisted, kirby games, and other ones that have controls and sensors built into the game cartridge themselves.
