Hello.:)

After extensive "using" (playing) on the 3DS XL I have noticed the Battery runs "dry" after ~3 Hours.
(WiFi and 3D de-activated,Screen Brightness on "3")
According to Nintendo and Internet inquiry this seems normal.

I was looking for Spare/Replacement Batteries (some have 2000mAh and more) and these are not expensive either.:)

BUT,what happens,if I took the Battery out of the 3DS XL ?
From Experience like with the Sony PSP-1004 with permanent CFW,nothing happens.:D
Is that also true for Luma and Consorts ?

Thank you for your Advises and your Help.:)

Buy Patona, Tera, VBHW or however it's spelled, Cameron Sina (loved their 4-cell battery for the small O3DS), Mugen Power (ask your bank for a loan first) - all reputable 3rd party brands

And yeah, you just have to set the clock (and disable wifi if you did that) again

About 3DS batteries availability in Europe.
See my signature. (dunno if .de applies for Austria)

Thank you for your Help.:)

I have read the Post from @KleinesSinchen about the Replacement Batteries.
As you say, outside USA for Austria - no Chance for an new original Battery.:(

I have decided to trust my "Battery" Seller of my Confidence - Sintech.DE

https://www.amazon.de/gp/product/B07JHDST2D/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

I have buyed Batteries from them for

- GameBoy Advance
- DS Lite
- DSi
- DSi XL

All Batteries works still and with no Issues.
If you like,I will keep you informed,if this is also the Case on the 3DS XL.

Thank you.:)

@alexander1970, that link is one of those fake capacity batteries. There is no way it's possible to squeeze 2500 mAh in the SPR-003 form factor.

Yes,this is absolut correct and you are right.:)

Does this mean, this IS an Problem on the 3DS XL ?
(On the other Devices I never have issues with them like Random shutdowns...):(

Thank you for help.:)

It's not that the battery won't work on the 3DS XL. Companies that make batteries with falsely (stated) overrated capacities tend to have less actual (real) capacities than official batteries. These batteries also tend to be made with inferior materials that will not only have shorter lifespan than quality made batteries, but they are more likely to bulge/puff up/inflate (higher chance of exploding).

For example, let's say I marketed and sold you a turbo diesel car that's supposed to get 100 mpg. This amazingly too-good-to-be-true car looks every bit as good to a modern Volkswagen Golf TDI but at half the cost. However, you learn too late after buying the car that its engine tells a different story where you instead consistently average 15 mpg.

Edit - Forgot to add, the example car's engine has shoddy manufactured tolerances and will at best only last you 50.000 km.

It's good that your experiences so far has been positive with fake capacities batteries across multiple devices. Not saying that everyone who buys a questionably marketed battery will automatically have theirs explode or go bad too soon. If they know what they're getting with tempered expectations that theirs might have shorter lifespan and playtime duration, then it's money they can claim as well spent.

There are valid reasons to buy these overrated mAh batteries like if you can't buy better batteries because those options are not available in your local markets or due to personal financial reasons (cost of living, budget).

Here's my take.
If someone said to me their official battery is swollen or fully dead where it can't hold a charge, (s)he asked for suggestions on a replacement, and this person only has enough money to buy a bobo-ass battery because that's all they could afford, I rather this person take the gamble buying that generic, fake mAh battery than continue using their current bad battery for safety to (him/her)self and to their 3DS system.

Since it seems you're looking for something closer to 10 € price range, how about this one?
Edit - Found another link.

Just replace the battery. Capacity can go down after a lot of use.
Buy an official one though. You can't beat Ninty's QC.
As was established earlier, Nintendo of Europe doesn't sell 3DS batteries to their consumers. You don't have to beat Nintendo's quality control; generics can and do match the official.

@alexander1970, so uh.. Sorry I didn't find out and catch this sooner. :(

That amazon link for the CellePhone battery, I didn't notice at first that the product page charges 4,90 € for shipping. I saw KOSTENLOSER Versand (free shipping) under the price listed on the center, which is from a different seller who charges 12,90 €. I found out a day later that CellePhone also offers that battery at their eBay store.
Shipping IS free for those in:
  • Austria
  • Belgium
  • Germany
  • France
  • Switzerland
Anyone who might wonder if other neighboring countries have free shipping, I've check these and that's a no. (The 4,90 € shipping charge does applies).
  • Czechia
  • Denmark
  • Italy
  • Netherlands
  • Poland
  • Spain
  • United Kingdom

Also, that CellePhone SPR-003 [1] battery is apparently [a relabeled version of / the same as] the Cameron Sino SPR-003 [2]. If the C.S. batteries for the PSP are anything to go by, you should be in good hands using that CellePhone.

Do you have kitchen scale by any chance? I'm curious to learn what the weights are for both batteries. :)

Edit - At some point next year (2020), I too will buy a replacement 3DS XL battery. From this side of the Atlantic pond, a single official Nintendo SPR-003 battery costs US $21.39 with Florida state tax and shipping. While that price is reasonable given it's availability for discontinued devices, I will probably be joining @KleinesSinchen getting the $12.52 C.S. battery and posting my results for cross comparison at:
