Shovel Knight to get physical release again, Showdown and King of Cards expansions get launch date

Next year will be a fairly major milestone for the 2014 retro throwback indie Shovel Knight. Not only will it be receiving the recently announced Showdown party battle mode, but the third and final story expansion, King of Cards, will also be releasing on the same day. As a bonus, a physical edition will be sold as well, which includes the full Shovel Knight: Treasure Trove experience by packing in all the content for the game at a $39.99 price point. This physical release will only be for the PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch in both North America and Europe. If that wasn't enough, the previously revealed Shovel Knight amiibo three pack, with Specter Knight, King Knight, and Plague Knight will also release the same day as the prior mentioned two expansions. King of Cards, the amiibo pack, and Showdown will all be out on April 9, 2019. The physical Shovel Knight pack currently has no release date.

Jeez, that's 2 years after specter of torment came out. I know making games isn't fast but jeez, it's an expansion which will heavily reuse assets (with 2 expansions have been made already) and a card game, it really shouldn't take 2 years :/

It clearly isn't a priority for them, as they're doing it only to fill the stretch goal for the kickstarter. But I'm glad they are keeping the promise they made back then.

wait playstation 4 and switch only for the final dlc, what about the wii u version. I cant afford 40$ just so I can play the kings knight story.
Nah, it's coming to Wii U, no worries. Just the new physical copy with Treasure Trove branding is PS4/Switch only. (And the old Wii U physical gets the new content too)

(bonus: PS4 physical delayed!!)

Ha, screw the PS4 in particular apparently. :P

Not complaining or anything, I just think it's pretty funny how they delayed King of Cards just for the sake of Switch being able to get their physical release at the same time as everybody else (so they could have Showdown included in the physical release), then in the end, PS4 owners end up having their physical copy delayed, but everyone else gets the game anyway.
