Hi,

I haven't touched my wii for a few years, but my nephews are really into pokemon, so I thought I'd see what games I had on my HDD. I have pokepark 1 and 2 installed on a WD My Passport Ultra HDD. When I tried to boot it up in USB Loader GX, I received a black screen with an error message to reset or check the disc. I updated USB Loader GX to the latest version in Cyan's signature, but still had issues.

I searched and read that i need to install d2x CIOS. So I installed it. Now i'm just getting a black screen and the wii disc light flickers when trying to start the game, so I can't get the same message again. I set d2x CIOS to:

What : d2x v8 final
where : slot 249
base : IOS57
version: 21008

Now i'm afraid i might have messed up my ios/cios by installing this as it showed it was going to overwrite a file. And I'm hoping overwritting slot 249 didn't affect any other games. I have my HDD plugged into the bottom USB port and my rockband multi USB hub on the top one. I read that installing/modifying CIOS shouldn't affect Gamecube games (I use nintendont).

I tried another Wii game and it seemed to still work, so I don't know if overwriting slot 249 with d2x CIOS is an issue. I do find it weird that I no longer get that black screen with the error message to restart/check my disc and it just goes to a black screen and the disc drive light flickers.

1) How do I ensure my wii is properly set up?
2) How do I get pokepark 1 & 2 to work without messing up my settings for other games?
3) Is there anything that I should update to ensure USB Loader GX runs smoothly with all games?

Below is my system report.

thanks for the reply. I have a mac, so the windows version won't work. Is there an advantage to using modmii? I could see if I can do it through windows somewhere if needed.

The format of my harddrive is Fat32.

Hello.:)

Maybe it helps you if you change this cIOS from

IOS250 (rev 65535): Trucha Bug, ES Identify, NAND Access, USB 2.0

to

IOS250[56] (rev 21008, Info: d2x-v8final): Trucha Bug, NAND Access, USB 2.0

with the d2x cIOs Installer.:)
https://wii.guide/cios.html

You can also change the Bases from

249 [57] + 250 [56]

to

249 [56] + 250 [57]

You already said you use USBLoader GX v3.0 rev.1272.Very Good.:D
Please also check in the
Global Settings - Loader Settings -> Game´s IOS - 249 and Loader´s IOS -> 58.

Thank you.:)

Thanks, i'll try it tomorrow. Just for my knowledge, what's the bases for?

Hello.:)

Ok,thank you.
For your Question:

The BASE represents the "Skills" of the ORIGINAL Wii IOS:

For any game that doesn't work you can try setting the IOS per game to 250. Leave the global setting set to 249. Every game should work with one or the other, the only game that doesn't is one that needs base 58, but it's a fitness game "Your Shape" which requires a USB peripheral. Most aren't likely to want to play it and even if they did they would need the USB peripheral.
If you encounter a game that does not work on 249 or 250 then it might have some sort of anti-piracy: Try disabling all options like video mode (set it to disc default or console default), VIDTV patch, ocarina, reboot to channel and so on for that specific game. Anything that modifies the game. Also you can try with 002 fix set to both ON and ANTI (I am not sure what is the correct setting for that these days, first ON was required then ANTI)
If the game still won't work after that, it's likely a bad dump.

Thanks again. Before I updated CIOS 249 and 250, I was getting a black screen with an error message, so i don't think it was a bad dump. Now i'm just getting a black screen and a flashing disc drive. Maybe i just had to change some of the settings for the anti-piracy? I should have done a system log before changing them, but I guess it's hard to tell what my CIOS were using before? I would assume it had something to do with hermes as 222 and 223 have it installed.

I remember seeing something a few years ago about the 002 fix, but I don't remember anything about that now.

I'll see if I can test on another loader, but I like USB Loader GX and its interface.

Hello.:)

Did you verified your Games with an CRC32 / MD5 Tool please ?
http://esrg.sourceforge.net/utils_win_up/md5sum/

and compared it ?

https://www.gametdb.com/Wii/R8AE01
https://www.gametdb.com/Wii/S2LE01

(The Checksums are on the Bottom of the Page(s).:) ).

Pokepark 2 NTSC Version works without changing any Settings in USBLoader GX.:(
I also noticed the DVD Light Flickering on the Blue Loading Screen.

The Game also works with the Configurable USBLoader v70 r78.11.
There is no DVD Light Flickering on the Blue Loading Screen.

Works also with WiiFlow v5.2.0.

Thank you.:)

Thanks, i never knew about that tool, but sadly, i'm on a mac. i tried it on Configurable USBLoader v70 r78.11 and it seems to freeze after selecting A to continue on both the pokeparks. I tried downloading the games from a different source, but still same issue. The first version (which i deleted) may have been a good one as it gave me a black screen with the disc error message previously.

thanks all for the help. I'll try to get access to a windows computer to see if the checksums match.

Hello.:)

Pokepark 1 NTSC Version - Pikachu´s Adventure needs a little "Adjustment" in USBLoader GX:

Settings - Game Load - Video Mode -> Force NTSC and Game Language -> English.
All other Settings leave untouched please.

Now it works.:yaywii:

I just been playing offline, and they give you a few bots here n there on your team to help battle. I don't think it's as funny as the other games tho, more battle oriented than humor, which kinda sucks, but I'm still early in it

@BigOnYa, doesnt the game have a campaign mode?
  • BigOnYa @ BigOnYa:
Yea, and co-op, but you can also start a pvp session and battle just with friends. You get special skill cards (powers) the more you play. And higher value cards, but you can only enable so many cards at a time.
