I must highlight however that this interview has a number of inconsistencies. For example, it seems the interviewer only had access to an original Switch running the modchip: "(at least for the classic model which is the unit we got to inspect)".
The absence of video or pictures from TX themselves contrasts a lot with what happened for the original Switch where the first thing they did was publish a video of a Switch displaying their logo. Note that this was before the RCM based exploit and around the CCC talk.
Combining this with how it's almost certain they've been developing a modchip since day 1 (which was left in the background in favor of the dongle approach once the exploit was public), it's clear to me that the modchip solution works on the original and patched units (they've dumped the new ipatches before) but it's still not ready for Mariko and Lite. Therefore, this buys them time without compromising to resellers and customers (which they were already trying to avoid before this whole thing).

Reset glitching is pretty much proven to be used by TX for at least extracting the new master keys (instead of exploiting TSEC) and they have a long background in that area. However, the new SoC in Mariko/Lite is a tougher challenge and I believe they've been stuck there for a while, presumably because the attack is unreliable and fails too often.

Yeah I always wondered what happened to their original exploit. They advertised a "soldered and solderless" solution. Then the RCM exploit was released so it kind of made their solution useless for the original switch revisions.

Huh good catch. Probably why they didn't bother with photos (giving them the benefit of the doubt that this alleged encounter even happened) - "here's our new hack for Mariko switches" / "hurr durr that's not Mariko".

First everyone complained and said that having an exploit like this is highly unlikely(understandably so) and said to take everything with a grain of salt until proven otherwise

Than Costello(our admin) was able to confirm that the exploit was indeed real, and you all started complaining about how you want to see it with your eyes otherwise it is fake.

Now we have another source confirming it's real and you are all still complaining

You're "us vs them" mentality is everything that is wrong and toxic in this community.

Everyone benefits for any amount of security research done at any sector of any ecosystem. Whatever TX puts out will be reverse engineered just as they themselves have reverse engineered (if they don't just straight copy and paste as we've seen) others products.

Im super stoked and can't wait to see what they put out. It will be nice to see TX *actually finally* contribute something meaningful back to this ecosystem instead of the copy and paste job they've been profiting off of for the last 2 years. The only nice software SX has "put out" has been purchased from blawar, which is a vastly improved version of tinfoil. Not even a in-house job. Props for good software engineering should be given to blawar, not TX. Im happy he got paid I guess? Skilled labor should be compensated, though financial compensation is not the only form of compensation that matters.

The best engineers in the scene do their work for attribution and for the continued education of their hobby. The real security work is done behind the scenes by people who are not in it for commercial gains.

Parting note - This isn't the first time TX has made claims about bypassing a specific security. All im going to say is that they have a history of fibbing about this. I will believe this when the product is in the hands of reputable members and fuctional on units. Don't hold your breath guys. If this was truly already accomplished production would be underway and it would be 1-2 months before we have a finished product. Don't buy the hype, believe what you see only when its real. The fact that no timeline was given should tell you the truth - They probably don't have a working product. Maybe they have good idea's or plausible solutions....but we've been saying the same thing about fusion for decades. Doesn't make it a reality.

Costello also said I was going to regret writing that post, yet here we are: a fabricated rumor made them move and we just got confirmation that it is indeed a modchip.
I believe this experiment successfully highlighted how most people in this scene (probably in others as well) are far more eager and concerned with fighting each other than to actually work at their own pace on something to be proud of and that TX is just as vulnerable to these tactics as anyone else.

That brings it to point two. Yes TX could be lying, its always a good idea to take things with a grain of salt. That being said however, TX's track record of real vs fake exploit/news tips very heavily in their favor thanks to them being in the scene since the xbox days...

Love them or hate them, there is no denying this is excellent news. For TX people, it's confirmation of new entrypoints. For haters of TX, it's confirmation that there are ways to get things like Atmosphere running on patched units.

And yes.. sx has things no other cfw has if you havent seen.. people got sx because:
1 - xci / usb 2 - Emunand till recently 3 - Easy of use
If this turns out to be real then you can add 4 - Works on all consoles

1 & 2 are valid. 3 can also be applied to Atmosphere. (Because Kosmos makes installation and usage very easy). 4 we'll have to wait and see.

Well, assuming its real (did a quick check, the guy that got the chance to use their chip is a MaxConsole user so they're probably not fabricated), that'll be interesting.

Still wish their would be some more evidence (video evidence ideally but photographic evidence would be acceptable too) but then again, I wouldn't be surprised if TX just smelled the money after the aforementioned "we have Mariko hax" was inserted in their rumor mill and pulled up their glitching attack solution again.
