I've tried those el cheapo cards and gotten burned before. Now if I don't buy from Newegg I run it through a scan to make sure it's real.

And I doubt they would even fake it with a 16GB card, those aren't cheap... it's probably a 2 or 4GB ones.
in here all card up to 32 gb's are about the same price if you far enough.it's around 15 euro in store or 8 euro online for 16gb

Not shaming anyone suggestions here but i wouldn't use micro sd adaptors. My personal reason for it is that sometimes is just annoyingly difficult to dectect the data on there. I spend minutes insertenting and ejecting it, blowing the contacts and sd slot trying to make it work. I seem to have issue with all devices using regular size cards while using micro sd with adaptor. I don't have issues with micro sd slot like android devices or new 3DS or NDS flash carts. But as soon as i use micro sd adaptor which i do with my Old 3DS. Problem after problem. (SD CARD NOT DETECTED PLEASE TURN OFF SYSTEM) I personally dunno why but is just my opinion. Then again i already dislike sd cards for how faulty they are and stop working suddenly. :glare:

Yo yo, not sure if you are still around since im replying to an old ass thread but how did you feel about the 128? Iv just upgraded my switch sd to a 512 leaving me with this 128 i think would do nicely in my wii. I use the system mainly to collect and play games.

What make/model of 512 SD card did you get? I've just seen this on Amazon and seems a good price (UK wise) Not sure if it matters if its in an adapter or not?!

Micro SD - Integral 512GB Micro SD Card Premium 4K High Speed Memory Microsdxc Up To 100MB/S V30 UHS-I U3 - £58
SD - Integral 512Gb SD Card 4K Ultra-HD Video Premium High Speed Memory Card SDXC Up To 100MB/S V30 UHS-I U3 C10 - £64

I have a 256GB card. it works with homebrew on the vwii and everything on the wii u side. however, you can't store games you've installed on the vwii with it, because it's too large. I think the largest recommended for the vwii is 32GBs.

Also this thread was made back in early 2016 when there was no option but to play Wii U games off anything but sd card called Loadiine. Later there was a solution to make them playable off external hard drives which is recommended because Loadiine had slow loading (sometimes like 20 minutes for one load) and some games did not work.

Might I ask what is the current method to run backups off a HD?
Get your totally legal dump folder
Put the folder in SD:/install
Install with wup installer gx

(Kinda short answer but there's many better instructional sites than a dead thread)

I use a 200 gb micro SD with an adaptor, works like a charm, only downside is on Wii menu if you load your save files or WiiWare games it takes a while before they start loading, on Wii U I noticed no slowdowns or issues, I’m thinking to go for a bigger one to add all of my Gamecube titles instead of having to swap them back and fourth but they are quite expensive.

I have read that a micro sd with an adapter speed is lower than a normal sd, specialy to use with loadiine. Im not even sure about that because im on 5.5, but i always go for a normal sd for everything. Just saying bro, you are who knows what fits you better :)
Generally slow speeds using microsd is due to a bad/cheap adapter

My cheapo fake adapters really struggle with data transfer it seems but as soon as I use a Samsung one I get the advertised speeds
