It seem to me, though, that people asking for XorTroll to implement nsz support Wer specifically asking because they wanted to avoid blawar's software in the first place - else they would already be using dz/tinfoil.

So it seems obvious to me that this is a blatant attempt at inciting against XorTroll and "promote" his own nsz format - however good or bad it may be (haven't looked into it)

Blawar denounces statements by XorTroll that were purely hypothetical and could have simply been facetious remarks, yet it is blawar himself who already implements these methods in his own software - and is proud of it, too.

Yes, he has the right to fork goldleaf and modify it, especially seeing as - apparently - his git PR was rejected - but it was unnecessary and petty, blawar already has his own title installer that he has built his nsz support into.

I don't even know why people use goldleaf...I tried it once and it was really bad. Figured one of the triggers or buttons would let me quickly scroll through files but instead it asked me to like reboot or shutdown.. I don t know.. it was weird

It's just a normal zStandard compression with the headers left untouched and a "nsz" header that notes some stuff about how it's encrypted.

Really, the only reason the format is popular and being pushed so hard (blawar didn't make the format, nor did he make the initial compression tools) is because certain pirates rely heavily on Google Drive which imposes bandwidth limits.

one reason i see very often is that people don't want to use dz/tinfoil. Not because it's bad - it arguably has better features - but because of the conduct it's author engages in. The software not being open source doesn't affect this positively, either - but that is a lesser issue.

Actually I still use the very old and first version of Tinfoil by Adubbz (and you're right, also because I personally don't like the author of all these new forked tinfoil), because the USB install (only usb install still work in 9.0 in the old and first version) has a feature I would love see in Goldleaf ( @XorTroll this is for you  ) being able to select many nsp and the installer install them one per one in a row. It's very useful in my opinion. This is something I would love to see in sd and usb install in Goldleaf.

I updated adubbz tinfoil to work with SD on 9.0: https://github.com/blawar/og_tinfoil

Yeah been told about this:
vertigo Today at 11:06 PM updated Tinfoil 5.10 to remove atmosphere DRM since it is no longer required since forcing title mode. also has an auto-installing nsp forwarder, be sure to copy it when you install or you may have issues.
Our boy blawar may be a little slow, but he gets there in the end, finally getting on board with title mode as the way to go for giving homebrew all the memory it could need. Remember tho kids, the atmosphere devs and the retroarch devs, in general devs who know what they're talking about and don't change their mind every week or so depending on who's annoyed them lately, have consistently recommended avoiding nsp forwarders and using title takeover (holding R while launching a game) to access homebrew.

Huh? That already works lol. Define a nsp folder in Quark.jar on PC, connect via USB while Goldleaf is running, browse, highlight the defined folder under PC, hit Y and choose install all NSPs in that folder.

Of course this goes for SD Install as well. Just hit Y on any folder in the file browser and choose install all.

Dude, it looks like you think that the scene is yours: your primary purpose is to impose your format in every title installer... but all of them aren't yours. Nevertheless, you have to mess up the FREAKING ENTIRE SCENE just to fulfil that.

But what if the other devs don't like idea? Eh, fuck that, will make a fork of ALL DAMN INSTALLERS (even dead ones like original Tinfoil) just to do it. Scene isn't yours, mate. No, you can't handle a "no", you always will have to do whatever you want, no matter if its adding a feature in another dev's project. Not to mention your manners.

lol, pot calling the kettle black.
Look at you gatekeeping the scene like it’s yours (on an open-source project that can be forked.)

To answer the question that people are asking why anyone used Goldleaf in the first place:

I could never get Tinfoil or SX Installer to work for me. The only solution I found that actually worked on my Switch for NSP installation over USB was Goldleaf and NS-USBloader (aside from the native XCI support).

What was your issue?

Honestly, I can't remember. I just remember spending hours trying to get Tinfoil working in Atmosphere. I gave up, and bought SX OS and used Goldleaf. Now that the latter doesn't support NSZ, I'll have to give your fork or Tinfoil a try again. I appreciate your work on this.
