With nsz format, i think it uses a lot of memory so forwarder or title override is recommended
Yes thats kind of normal with some applications. But I know goldleaf have a nro that launch it so it get full memory. Is this the same forwarder or is it some other?

yeah using goldleaf.nsp (forwarder) should work fine'

goldbricks doesnt include one but you can make one easily or just use title override

Forwarder? huh? For just Tinfoil or other software?

There's forwarders for a lot of software really, heck there's even one for the actual homebrew menu so that it doesn't launch in applet mode. From what i've seen it's also pretty simple to make your own and can be done for any .NRO

Tinfoil works on both stock atmosphere and kosmos, you only need to load it from a nsp forwarder.

Either of them can do whatever they want with their apps, one of them is free software and the other one isn't. I really liked tinfoilmod but it wont happen again apparently.
Blawar's tinfoil doesn't work with vanilla Atmosphere.

Again, no. The DRM was returned with 5.1.0, so it requires the fork. 5.0.0 is the latest version that works with vanilla Atmosphere.

Unless sx patches atmosphere (sic) I m running it just fine from both fuse primary and sx payloads.

I just copy tinfoil folder and not the rest of folders that overwrite sept and atmosphere.

Why dont you try it yourself? Run it un non applet mode por from a forwarder on fuse-primary.bin

It doesn't work with title override. Something about having a legitimate SX OS license might bypass the DRM. I wouldn't know.

Tinfoil 5.1.0 blocks the use of vanilla Atmosphere.

Switch scene in a nutshell...

Blawar always tends to incite something, but if Goldleaf is indeed opensource, then it's pretty much in his rights to make a fork, yeah? That's the nature of things. It's a shame to always see a thread hopping with bickering and more divisive switch scene stuff.

More like the "Switch Piracy Scene". Thanks god those who are not into the warez scene are safe from blawarez :creep:

wait, did blawar just force include his stuff in another guy installer (when he already have his own installer) just so this software will have it despide the will of the original creator not to? wtf? new level of toxicity reached... when you think he cannot go worse, he does, it is somehow amazing....

xor didnt want to for whatever reason, but many people who used goldleaf wanted it, so he forked and added it for those people. so toxic, i know /s

Forking an open source project isn't toxic. The shots directly taken at Xortroll are but forking a project thats openly available to modify? Not really, no.

if it was anyone else forking it i wouldnt have jumped, but seeing the guy behavior history i cant avoid to notice the usual patern of forcing stuff down people throat

and im amazed that the guy can go out of his way to fork other installer to include his stuff, but he cant make hise own work with vanilla atmosphere (when a mod can), its always taking the long road to have it his way

(+ i find it hilarious to see him calling out a guy to "tame his autism", and talking about "scene toxicity" when its just about himself being "nobody bend to what i want")

Pretty sure he called and is still calling goldleaf worthless/crap. Given the name of this fork as well as we somehow have 5 installers that now support nsz out of nowhere which makes this fork pointless.... Kinda obvious what he is doing..... How much ya wanna bet he made/forked most if not all the installers that now support nsz?

well the only installers are tinfoil/lithium (his), old tinfoil (abandoned), and goldlead (refused to add it)

and since it is his new format, and wants most people to have the ability to use it, yes.

the fork name could have been anything and people would still bitch and moan and throw a hissy fit.

Sooooo...has anyone used this yet?
IDGAF about the drama, just want to hear some actual users thoughts.

Curious to know what's up before I start messing with it.
Does this work with external hdd?(saw a post about exfat hdd support) Can I create an .nsz from a .nsp from within this? Any problem titles?

not sure what you are getting at, but thumbsup

I find all the drama funny. But I have seen plenty of people asking for nsz support and now they have it. If Xortroll is butthurt his open source goldleaf got forked, so be it

It seem to me, though, that people asking for XorTroll to implement nsz support were specifically asking because they wanted to avoid blawar's software in the first place - else they would already be using dz/tinfoil.

So it seems obvious to me that this is a blatant attempt at inciting against XorTroll and "promote" his own nsz format - however good or bad it may be (haven't looked into it)

Blawar denounces statements by XorTroll that were purely hypothetical and could have simply been facetious remarks, yet it is blawar himself who already implements these methods in his own software - and is proud of it, too.

Yes, he has the right to fork goldleaf and modify it, especially seeing as - apparently - his git PR was rejected - but it was unnecessary and petty, blawar already has his own title installer that he has built his nsz support into.

@Psionic Roshambo i didn't go amd for one specific reason, the AI performance is way behind nvidia

oh yeah also DLSS is a pretty solid reason to go nvidia since fidelityfx is kinda crap

and now with the rtx video upscaling, and sdr->hdr conversion, even more reason to go nvidia

both of which work well in potplayer

amd is a bit cheaper though
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
Cheaper and they are less stingy with the RAM not a big issue now but I can imagine in a yard or two things might be different

    Year not yard lol
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
the vram is one advantage when it comes to AI but ends up being slower even with that and really AI is the only use case that needs more than 12gb vram right now

    Interesting lol
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
I think I watched a video where two games at 4K where eating just over 16GB of RAM and it's the one case where the 7900XT and XTX pulled ahead (minus RTX of course)
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
So my opinion is that they could age a bit better in the future, and maybe AMD will continue improving them via drivers like they tend to do. No guarantee there but they have done it in the past. Just a feeling I have.
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
cyberpunk at 4k without DLSS/fidelityfx *might* exceed 12gb

  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
but that game barely runs at native 4k
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
I think it was some newer games and probably poorly optimized PS4 or PS5 ports
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
they definitely will age better but i feel dlss might outweigh that since it looks about as good as native resolution and much less demanding
    +1

When I played Cyberpunk on my old 2080 Ti it sucked lol
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
AMD could introduce something comparable to DLSS but nvidia's got a lot more experience with that
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
least amd 7xxx has tensor cores which the previous generations didn't so there is the potential for AI upscaling

so AMD seem to finally be starting to take AI seriously

Oh yeah those new 8000 CPUs have AI cores built in that's interesting

Maybe they plan on offloading to the CPU?
