Do you guys just use the account it creates or do you create your own next to it? Do you rename the account/etc without breaking?

Alright, this software needs to come with some Caution. It works, but overwrites the Payload and puts it's own splash screen upon bootup. It displays Kefir Updater boot image instead of Atmosphere/Sept. I had to delete the Atmosphere, Boot Loader, and Sept folders to install my original. It did install a new profile that is linked to the eshop. So, I shouldn't really complain, but was annoying to see this done without letting me know before hand.

this is a similar aio package of cfw like kosmos and if u install it or check for udates will install the aio package. i just go to the add nintendo account and never use it again and it only does this

That's user error for not reading what options you were using.

I just ran across this: https://switch-xci.com/link-switch-console-account-to-a-nintendo-account

They mention a way to do it manually -- essentially just replacing the one part of the user savedata that is necessary for this. I believe it would actually be 100% possible for a homebrew program to do that automatically without the unwanted extra stuff, but for the meantime, this is generally a lot less complicated than it seems.

I'm trying to do this now, but I'm delayed by the fact that I need to get it to an emuMMC instead of system and my current system doesn't even have enough room for a dump. GoldLeaf supposedly supports writing to the SYSTEM partition, but it didn't seem to actually do it. (Probably the current version has something you have to do first, but there's no mention of anything like that in the documentation. All I can say for sure is I try to copy the file, it says successful and then nothing actually happens. It's probably supposed to show a warning and it doesn't, so my bet is they've set it up to require you to edit the settings to put something in for this.)

This app used that info, which was from another thread here. It replaces 2 files. Either way you end up orphaning your saves.

The point is a way to do it that doesn't use a closed source app that replaces boot files/etc and could potentially be sending other stuff from your system (PRODINFO?) along the way for all anyone knows.

Go read the thread and do it manually. The app isn't sending anything out, just grabbing the account files. A quick RE or wireshark capture can confirm that.

Did u use the add nintenido link account or install cfw as that would install a cfw package i.e replace any existing homebrew with its own

i ran the update option, which i don't recommend, because it downloads extra apps and changes the splash screen with some other unwanted things. i had to delete my atmosphere, bootloader, and sept folder and restore old/stock ones to revert. it keeps the linked profile though, even after you change the name and icon. i would just use the add linked profile option which should only do that. hope this answers your question.

yes you must only use "add nintenido link" for this one purpose as update or install is to do with the kefir AIO CFW Package

This crap is not worth the hassle. I'd strongly recommend avoiding.

Apart from overwriting boot files and who knows what else without warning, it makes Checkpoint behave oddly (blank default user selected, unable to restore pre-Kefir saves to new users), and is causing crashes (9.0.1 / 0.9.4) with Atmosphere citing an error with the 'player select' titleID among other unspecified freezing.

Edit: a crash from Kefir, Atmosphere report:

1. there is a guide on how to do this manually and tells which files it changes this just downloads pre-edited files and apply them
2. you can restore checkpoint backups after kefir u just need to open the game first then close it and then it appears in checkpoint for u to restore, saves are not tie to the user
3. never had an issue so I can't comment on freezes or errors

I found after Kefir both the new linked account and any made myself after that point would not see backups made beforehand. I could have games appear after having booted them once but no saves listed for restoring.

Edit: Except - when running Checkpoint it would start with a blank profile selected, with all the games and their backups listed. This was presumably the account that was 'removed' by Kefir. It couldn't be selected after changing to another account.

the blank icon for user profile in checkpoint is one of the new profiles so restore one and see which one

PSA for those considering using this -
It works as described, but replaces your cfw and payload files with its own and also installs several .nro apps without asking. I was alarmed to reboot to the Kefir splash screen, so I immediately overwrote all cfw and payload files with the latest version of Kosmos. All seems to be back to normal now, with the linked account still working. It would be nice if Kefir had an option to add the linked account ONLY.

Please everyone be aware of the UPDATE button, is not what you would think it is ( it overwrites your CFW, installs many .nros all without asking for it!!!)
I wish i could have read all replies here before clicking that button.

Oh, also the add link account button works as expected (only what I downloaded that for, thanks for this anyway)

If possible the developer should remove the update button, or at least remove it from the instructions

-- edit

reverted all CFW changes and deleted unwanted apps on the switch folder
now I have the linked account working + my CFW and apps as they were before! :D
(also restored my saves done with checkpoint, all good)
