In 2019, who uses fat32.

Everyone who doesn't want to risk corrupting their entire sd card when using homebrew. With usb install there's absolutely zero ziltch none nada reasons to use exFAT.

You said yourself you had an issue with exFAT using Retroarch (because it's homebrew) and yet you recommend it lmao.

ExFAT corruption happens on homebrew such as Retroach, Tinfoil, any homebrew app can corrupt your entire sd card at any time. FAT32 no such issue. So it's kinda dumb to recommend the one that causes corruption over the one that doesn't.

Lool. Homebrew. Because it crashed ALL the time. I’ve never had this issue with commercial content. Your logic here is as follows.

car crashes as example. Cars cause accidents, people don’t. Cars being exFAT, people being homebrew. Homebrew crashes for numerous reasons. If anyone thinks, switching to another file system with still crashing homebrew doesn’t cause data corruption, you’re mistaken. Again personal preference guys, do as you wish. PS. You’re referencing homebrew. If exFAT was that poor. When you connect a SDXC card in to your switch, it wouldn’t ask you to “officially” download the exFAT from Nintendo’s CDN.

you’re answering it yourself, homebrew, homebrew homebrew, is effected. No commercial content, which is what I do on my switch. I play games, that’s it.

Copied over three games to my switch last night Untitled Goose game Links Awakening and The Witcher

Goose game went over no issues but the other two as soon as they got to the very end of copying over just hang and don't finish correctly.

I end up having to interrupt the process the file is on my switch but obviously it has an error when opened.

I tried goldleaf and fluffy but same issue.

Dont remember having this problem with bigger games before so not sure how to fix it!
Are you using atmosphere or sxos?

Do you mean install, not copying over?

I never had to split files before though?

I copied over smash bros and botw threw usb using Goldleaf.
Right, you were installing them over USB. The full NSP file was never copied to the sd card, only the files extracted from it.

I updated to 9.0.1 last night installed.new sigpatchs tried latest version of fluffy gold tree and quark but what's happens is when the transfer is done it hangs at the very end and doesn't complete.

I have to turn off the software on both ends and I'm left with a corrupt file on my switch.
This sounds like it might be a bad card. Or perhaps it's running out of space.

You just proved your ignorance again jellybean. There's no 4 gb limitation, there's been usb install since 2018. There is no limitations on Fat32 that what I was trying to tell you. I don't give a crap what you do with your Switch I don't care if it corrupts all your files or not, but when you act like it's stupid to use Fat32 when I've proven there's no reason not to use it then I'm gonna call you out on it. You would have to be a moron to think everyone on Fat32 can't play games over 4 gb like 90% of Switch games are over 4 gb.

I think I'll end this here by adding you to my ignore list because I don't have any need to say anything else to you or read your replies.

Lol, again. FAT32 has been used On PCs for decades. So you’re telling me, forget PC installs who wants to do that each time. Forget workarounds. You’re telling me, FAT32, as a file system does NOT have a 4GB file limit?

--------------------- MERGED ---------------------------

I hope that so much. I remember you if you get corrupted files.
I’ve been using my 512GB since: 9th June 2019. Hidden partition for my emuNAND, other partition for content. No issues. But if this ever changes. I will hold my hands up and say my card was corrupted. But it works great so far!

How can we install using usb?
Does that work with nsp and xci ?
Start Goldleaf, connect your Switch with your PC, choose the "Explore Content" Option, then PC Connection (or whatever it is called in english), now your Switch should freeze but, don't worry that's normal for the Moment, open Quark Client on your PC, afterwards your Switch should stop freezing. And then choose a .nsp File. And wait for completing the Installation. That's it.

There's a better way to do it with SX OS IMO.

-Get an external hard drive, format it to exFAT (before you know who goes crazy it's not the same, no corruption on the external to the Switch and it's the only way to have XCIs that are over 4 gb on the external)
-Install the games to your sd card through SX installer, or of course you can just play them on the external if they're XCIs, NSPs can only be installed not played on external

Then you can just install them when the Switch is docked directly from the external at any time without needing a computer, it's super easy.

I tried to do that with a pendrive and the installer don’t find the games

Does that work with nsp and xci ?
If by "we" you mean sxos users, you can use myriad options to do so.
Personally, I use sx installer docked with an hdd. Both nsp and xci work, as well as xci mounting. Set up your hdd as root/SXOS with absolutely nothing else on the drive, placing your games in the SXOS folder, in exfat format. Any deviation from that will not work properly.
Now when docked, go to album/Installer and your usb drive should be recognized, and you'll know because you'll see your games, and install from there.

Edit; if you only have a pen drive, it should(some models/types might be incompatible, not sure) also work if set up properly...
Installing games from a flash drive is perfectly fine, I would not, however, recommend playing games from said drives though.

Also, make sure you're on a later version of sxos that supports it(post2.2), as I know there are those out there still rocking 6.xfw and sxos 2.6, which has broken usb support.
