Hardware Boot with battery disconnected?

Is it possible to boot without a battery connected at all? Disconnecting my battery and powering on flashes the nintendo logo and then the system shuts off. If I boot with the battery connected, then unplug the battery, everything works fine.

Is there a known workaround for this, either a hardware mod or software? Would RCM work with no battery connected?

You would probably have to power the battery pins directly with a power supply (~4V) to trick the Switch into thinking there is a battery connected.
You may be able to take advantage of the voltage regulator in the charging circuit.

I've got a solution working. On the battery connecter, I applied ~4.7v to the positive lead, and tied the other 3 leads (temp sensor, ground) to ground. I connected to an external power source and it boots fine. I tested by connecting to the 5v and GND of the usb port on the dock and it was able to boot fine.

Unfortunately, I think I accidentally fried the M92T36 while probing around for a good 5v source. I had one probe of my multimeter connected to the large metal shield on the switch and the other I was probing around on the dock for test ports. The switch boots fine, but won't charge or dock at all. I've ordered a replacement and will see what happens with that. Interestingly the switch boots with the chip completely removed, but immediately goes into "an error has occurred" screen. Not important, just thought it was neat.
