Hardware I just bought a Switch from Walmart today, so I'm really late to the party.

Is there anything Homebrew related that I can do with it? It's not a deal-breaker or anything, but it would be a nice thing.

The Switch site says it's patched.

My Serial starts with:
XKW1001~~~~~~~
If it's a red box Switch your fucked

If the site says it's patched, why create a thread asking when you know the answer is no?

as far as anyone knows, xkw1 units are all patched and can't be hacked.

most of what made the switch hackable was based on a crazy flaw in the previously used tegra chip. without that chip, all doors are currently closed.
you could put it in your attic for a few years and see what happens, but it's not gonna be a great chance.

just use it legally and have fun with it and sell it off with little loss in value if you dont want it anymore.

i mean, not everyone knows that patched means literally nothing goes.
we do cause we been in this thing for a while and sites are not always as up to date as people

I wanted to be 100% sure, so I don't do anything stupid.

Will do, thank you all for the info!

First stop:
Super Smash Bros. Ultimate!

FUN FACT: My first game purchase for N64, GameCube, Wii, and 3DS was also Super Smash Bros. (Not counting bundled games that came with systems).

I find it unfortunate how hard it was to get answers as a newbie here. Not a very welcoming group of people at all.

Wasn't there a bunch of people who found unpatched units with new serial numbers?
not among the xkw1 serial numbers though, at least as far as i'm aware and was able to research.

And silly me forgot to buy a MicroSD Card for it, so no digital games until I get one.
there is enough internal memory for one large game (like botw or smash) and a couple smaller ones, though yeah, investing in a 200 or 400gb cart if youre looking to buy a lot of digital games or certain games with huge updates (splatoon) or savestates (anything minecraftish) isn't a bad idea. they're pretty cheap currently.

yeah, people online can be dicks, but there's a few nice ones around.

I did buy The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild later after my last post. I can purchase a 200 GB card at Walmart, it's not as expensive as it sounds.

I chose not to get NS Online, I don't really care about online play or the S/NES games that I have elsewhere. (The only exception is FFXIV.)

But it's odd that physical copies are $10 cheaper than digital copies.
