Nintendo updated the wording on some of those temporary ban error codes to permanent on their website so I think they're telling the truth. After all, Nintendo has never really done temporary bans before.

Well if this occurrence is true, then it appears that more people are banned all around the internet then was once expected cause I see complaints of that sort on other websites as well

Just one question, did you use LayeredFS at all? This includes custom themes, game mods, and any other type of file replacement.

I didn't, no. However when I created the emuMMC it did still have my NSPs on STOCKOFW which I promptly uninstalled before going online. After that it's probably because I didn't perform any kind of clean up. However I can now confirm that the bonus 2181-4517 error code I've been seeing when trying to access the E-shop is a permanent ban. Just FYI.

They did on 3ds
Can you link me to some examples because the only ones that come up in Google are the 3DS ones. Also I'm referring to ones invoked by CFW and hacking only. Temporary bans are handed out in online games normally but these are for bad behavior such as repeatedly disconnecting or inappropriate actions.

Hello, I accidentally connected to the internet while on Emummc (Damn you, LAN adaptor) with some nsp's installed (Including Astral Chain before release date) on August 26th, and to this day I haven't been banned, I can play online, access eshop and update the games and console, I was lucky and I didnt got banned or it is just that the ban wave hasnt ocurred?

I had the exact accident : I booted on eMMC with one NSP (only to launch homebrews), my Switch connected once to Wifi without 90DNS enabled, but I didn't launch any game.
2 months later, I got the error code 2181-4017 when updating a game, or connecting to eshop.

I feel bitter, as I own dozen of Switch games, I have paid for online, and I only use CFW for homebrew developement :(

It'd be nice to see this get updated with information about EmuMMC via Atmosphere. Now that it's been out for a while, it appears to be a valid way to keep a clean nand while using cfw.

So it seems that going from the information that we so far have on the "temporary" banned error codes, would it be safe to assume now that Nintendo made it so that they have multiple permanent ban error codes or is this still thinking too far ahead and we should wait for results?

It happened on one of my 3ds consoles, it lasted around 10 days. No inapropiate behaviur involved. Just gateway/rxtools involved.

Multiple people in this thread alone have tried contacting Nintendo but ended up with the same response; that their temporary ban is actually a permanent one. Combine that with the fact that Nintendo have updated their website to reflect these changes and I believe it is safe to assume temporary bans were temporarily implemented but are now permanent.

I would agree it is safe but the issue is emuMMC is not user-friendly to setup with Atmosphere.

If anyone has any recommended guides on setting up emuMMC, I will add it to the first post under "Best Way to Avoid Bans".

i accidentally went online on Mario Odyssey servers with kosmos emuMMC because 90DNS wasn't working, and after noticing i installed incognito mode before getting banned. Am i gonna get banned? If yes, how much time will it take, and there will ever be a way to unban your console or make it read a fake generated cert to go online again in the future?

There is currently no way to unban as their cert is much stronger than the 3DS. But we don't know the future.

Merely running Kosmos with legitimate games (no NSPs) doesn't seem to guarantee ban. We haven't seen too many reports of people getting banned without modding saves or cheating online. Although running a version of atmosphere/kosmos incompatible with your firmware does seem to have triggered at least one ban.

Good, i installed backup NSPs after incognito, so i should be safe, i think the homebrew nsps i installer before incognito were only used offline (airplane). Wish me luck bro

I have been debating about clearing error logs to clean my sysnand after i bought a switch with cfw 2nd hand that didn#t have a nand backup, I read that clearing logs will cause a ban, however the Nintendo website says that factory reset will delete all information records such as error history https://www.nintendo.co.uk/Support/...-the-console-to-factory-settings-1200201.html

How is that different to clearing logs manually?

Factory resets don't actually remove all error codes. Clearing the error logs manually does but there is no public way to remove those anymore.

I followed this guide yesterday and it explained everything and was successful in setting up atmosphere on emummc on my first go as a newbie:

Nintendo is totally right in this case. There's no error logs to be found after you did factory restore settings while being offline. After restoring the system, power off the console completely and double check SYSTEM/save using HacDiskMount, there is no error logs save here aka 80000000000000d1. Delete all save from there except 8000000000000120. You will have a clean nand basically.

Hi I am very new to Nintendo Switch hacking. I was thinking about buying a switch and installing a CFW so that i would be able to install pirated games. But if I understand correctly there is NO WAY i can play these games online? Am i correct?

You need to actually pay for games you want to play on official servers, and play them on a seperate NAND than your warez.

We do have a way to play local wireless games online, but you're limited to other CFW'd/banned people who are doing the same.

I just realized that 90DNS doesn't work with my Switch as it updates my games anyway. Is there a way to know I'm banned without linking my Nintendo account?
