I would totally get this if it came to Canada. I love watching movies on my DS because I travel a lot with it. I can only get a limited number of movies for my DS because because all the converting programs are for PC when I have a Mac. So if it supported like mpg, avi, mp4, mov or something like that, I would get it no matter the price, I would support Nintendo for dong this.

It's an interesting move. They mention needing to download content from their site, you can guarantee it'll be in some obscure file format. I'm not sure if forcing people to use only their content will catch on. Then again converting videos for moonshell is a pain in the arse anyway so I suppose it won't make much difference. And hey it worked for Apple.

All you people who say it will fail need your heads examined. It's a licensed media player so it will be availiable from high street stores. It won't convert current flashcart users but it's bloody attractive to new and non-technical users looking to play videos on their DS. Hell, it might even sell a few DS's to people who currently don't own one along the way.

It all depends on what videos and content they offer for download on their sites (and how much it costs); if the content is there then it will sell. It'll be interesting to see what kind of stuff they offer.

Nintendo finally joins the flash cart type of thing. Next thing you know, we'll have to buy games online and then download them. (buy?)
That would be a good thing. Tiny cartridges are a pain in the arse to keep track of, and CD's scratch. Only problem is the virtual content is so easy to delete, by accident or otherwise. Oops sorry, gone a bit off-topic there.

That woulnd't be a problem if they'd handle this like they already do with Virtual Console (the ability to download again after deleting it by accident).

BTW: Just think how cool a DSware (yeah sucky name ^^) thingy service would work on the DS. If this thing comes out in Europe I'll buy it for sure !
