3DS is getting FULL SPEED PSX and Wii U which is 1000000 times more powerful cant get anything. This is so frustrating.

Not true. I play FF7, Metal Gear solid, Crash bandicoot full speed on the vwii side on my wii u via the overclocking app, that allows wiisxr to run PSX game at 60fps

Umm, You do know that the wii u has vwii mode integrated, right? So yes, wii u can run PSX games at full speed via the overclocking app.

Even if the sound emulation is scratchy and uses a pretty outdated plugin, but yes, keep playing with outdated plugins :creep:

After i launch retroarch, it boots straight back to the wii u menu.

H:\wiiu\apps\retroarch

Deleted the retroarch.cfg and it boots to a black screen with looping music that never stops.

This is a constant issue and i know it can't be just me. others have to be experiencing this.

This is on a fresh install at that!
I've had this happen many times and it usually boils down to one of these two things:

1. RetroArch is trying to load a core that doesn't exist. This usually happens if you have an invalid playlist entry. If you try to load a core that doesn't exist, it will be set as the default core anyway and then promptly fail to load it on startup, which is why it just exits to the Wii U menu. You can easily fix this by editing the "libretro_path" line in retroarch.cfg by pointing it to an actually existing core. This way you don't have to delete the whole configuration file and you won't lose your other settings. You might also need to delete content_history.lpl.

2. The SD card is set to the "lock" or read-only position. For whatever reason it's really easy for the latch to get pushed into the wrong position when pushing it into the Wii U SD slot. Most SD card readers won't detect this and will let you write to it from PC anyway, but the Wii U will detect it and make it read-only, which means it can't write to the configuration file and will just exit.

One other thing to try is download the assets archive (linked in the OP under the "white screen" section) and drop the xmb folder into sd:\retroarch\media\

Thanks for the lengthy response.

libretro_path = "sd:/retroarch/cores/81_libretro.elf"

I think this may be my issue as you pointed out.

The SD card isn't on lock as i've checked several times.

Are you on discord? if so, can you join my server? https://discord.gg/HKX4PdQ

UPDATE:

mame2003_midway_libretro I changed it to this core and i verified it was there. The 81_libretro.elf was also there. It's always pointing to that core, even after i delete the .cfg and it recreates itself, when i try to boot it unsuccessfully. :(

No, I open custom firmware first and the SD is put on the WiiU, that error comes out when trying to open some rom after opening another previously independent of the core[/QU

I always restart the RA when you change the core and game sometime it crashes on me if i dont restart the RA maybe it what is the problem?

PowerPC is a nightmare to program for, I hear
But once you know you can achieve bigger things than other architectures like x86 and stuff...

You would think they will know how to use it by now ... We have had this same PPC since GameCube.

And yet it's taken them this long for someone to finally have the motivation to port over PPC, you know, instead of jumping ship and diverting all the attention to the Switch. Yeah, I'm cynical, so what?

I have at one point but i'm getting the same issue. Do you have retroarch installed on your wiiU? can you post the directories the files need to be installed?
Sure. This is the basic folder structure for the RPX version, which you might want to try again. This is all you need if you're launching from the RetroArch Channel linked in the OP (nothing is needed in the wiiu/apps folder).

sd:/retroarch/config/
sd:/retroarch/cores/
sd:/retroarch/cores/info/
sd:/retroarch/cores/logs/
sd:/retroarch/cores/playlists/
sd:/retroarch/cores/savefiles/
sd:/retroarch/cores/savestates/
sd:/retroarch/cores/system/
sd:/retroarch/database/
sd:/retroarch/database/cursors
sd:/retroarch/database/rdb/
sd:/retroarch/downloads/
sd:/retroarch/filters/
sd:/retroarch/media/
sd:/retroarch/media/xmb/
sd:/retroarch/retroarch.cfg
sd:/retroarch/retroarch-core-options.cfg

If you're launching it from the Homebrew Launcher, just add these:

sd:/wiiu/apps/retroarch/icon.png
sd:/wiiu/apps/retroarch/meta.xml
sd:/wiiu/apps/retroarch/retroarch.rpx

Also I'd highly recommend using only the latest stable version (1.7.8) instead of the latest nightly build as those can be unstable.
