TX Presents SX OS v2.9 BETA - With Full v9.0 Firmware Support!

NEW UPDATE FIXES UPGRADE ISSUES!

PLEASE USE V2.9.1b INSTEAD OF 2.9

YOU CAN NOW USE CHOIDUJOURNX 1.0.2 WITH 2.9.1b

**********************************************

Good day, fans and believers! We hope you are all having a good weekend.

SXOS29.png

Team-Xecuter has done it again, they have updated their world-famous SX OS to now support the latest v9.0 Switch firmware from Nintendo.
Today, we bring you a much needed update of SX OS. Full compatibility with the latest Switch firmware 9.0! Sorry that we kept you waiting, we wanted to make sure all our unique features still properly work.

Additionally, we also introduced support for the "Horizon split format". This means that people who use FAT32 can have folders named 'game.xci' with split parts contained therein (named 00, 01, 02, etc.). Make sure the folder has the 'archive' bit set.

We know you are waiting for some other big features in SX OS, they are coming.. We wanted to get this compatibility update out first though.

So what are you waiting for? SX OS 2.9 beta is available for download on our website now! (and also through the builtin online updater part of SX OS.)

You need Edizon for Atmosphere's cheat engine.

So...has Edizon been updated for 9.0? All homebrew needs to be updated and recompiled. SXOS has its issues, but their cheat system (like the Gateway before it) is surprisingly well-implemented for what it is - and is all-inclusive with a single download. Not that I'm an advocate of SXOS over Atmosphere, they're just too unreliable and poorly tested, but for the patient user that isn't a quick adopter, I can see why they stay with it.

I just don't get it why they're keeping the 2.9 beta online.
Apart from all the drama going on with team xecuters 2.9Beta release, I have found out it does look like Nintendo have actually optimised the WiFi adapter drivers on firmware 9.0 before running a test I was getting roughly 50Mbps down and 19Mbps up and now I’m getting 60Mbps down & 29Mbps up so at least this time Nintendo has made the users experience better because it needed it. The performance on the throughput to the switch downloading large titles all Nintendo was doing was bottlenecking the speeds directly to the switch just awful.
Good the wifi was bad. I have bought an ethernet adapter tho.

Yes I'm pretty sure an updated Edizon came with the first 9.0-supporting release of Kosmos (which came out surprisingly quick after the initial atmosphere release). And is of course available separately.

e: I may have been wrong about the updated edizon build. Weird if they haven't updated it already, but eh, it's open source, anyone can build it if they need.

So, it's distributed with Kosmos...

There's not an updated app on the github that I can see. As I said, I can see recent commits, but there's no compiled release since March.

We're not making the best case for SXOS users to switch here is my point, at least as it relates to this scene being John Madden as fuck to navigate sometimes.

The WiFi adapter used in the switch is generally really bad! it clocks out fully at 175Mbps but only achieves a maximum of 60/30Mbps to the console but what makes it truly idiotic in this day & age we have titles on eshop 29GB in size and will only get bigger. Actually you might find using your Ethernet adapter connected you might be worse off because that adapter will most probably have a limit of 150Mbps they usually do so yes you will be worse off with your throughput the only benefit is a better ping while online gaming but nothing noticeable.

Fellow gbatemp users,

It has been reported by many SX OS users that the latest SX OS 2.9 BETA is causing several different types of issues, some of which are quite major. This thread is to help warn others who may see an available update and quickly jump to the latest BETA 2.9 release without realizing the potential issues at hand.

The main issue of concern is:
1) Using the latest SX OS 2.9 BETA on firmware 9.0.0: When a user downloads the latest SX OS 2.9 BETA, copies the new boot.bin to their microSD card, boots into the new 2.9 BETA CFW and initiates a firmware update to 9.0.0 (and other firmware versions) using ChoiDujourNX version 1.0.1, it may cause the update to stop partially through on the "flashing firmware packages 0/6" screen. When this happens the user is forced to hard reboot the console which results in a black screen. At this point many users chose to restore their NAND backups in order to get access back into SX OS again. Others mention that they are able to load into atmosphere CFW and downgrade their firmware back to 8.1.0 and use SX OS 2.8 again. For those who ran into this issue while using emunand are able to re-create emunand which also seems to correct the issue.

**There is a work around that I and others were able to do to avoid the above issue: It requires you to load into SX OS 2.8, install firmware 9.0.0 using ChoiDujourNX version 1.0.2 and once this is completed you are able to change boot.bin to the latest 2.9 version. Other methods for updating firmware successfully include using TXInstaller, Tinfoil, official Nintendo servers, etc.**

2) Using the latest SX OS 2.9 BETA on firmware 9.0.0: Loading into firmware 9.0.0 causes a GC Fuse burn (Game Cart Fuse) that prevents you from using game carts on firmware versions lower then 9.0.0.
3) Using the latest SX OS 2.9 BETA on firmware 9.0.0: This seems to break custom XCI loading. We are unsure if this is related to the GCFuse burn. Waiting to see if this can be corrected with a new SX OS revision.

Minor Issues:
4) Using the latest SX OS 2.9 BETA on firmware 9.0.0: In docked mode when exiting the album using the "B" button, causes error 2168-0002. Reportedly corrected by TX in upcoming revision.
5) Using the latest SX OS 2.9 BETA on firmware 8.1.0: When attempting to initiate a firmware update to 9.0.0 using ChoiDujourNX version 1.0.2 it stops on the "Testing for BIS Protection" screen, user is forced to do a hard reboot but is able to get back into SX OS 2.9 still on firmware 8.1.0.
6) Using the latest SX OS 2.9 BETA on firmware 9.0.0: No longer allows you to install incognito.
7) Using the latest SX OS 2.9 BETA on firmware 9.0.0: Lock screen themes no longer work, SX OS 2.9 does not currently have IPS patching.
8) Using the latest SX OS 2.9 BETA on firmware 9.0.0: Attempting to use cheats when using XCI from external SSD/HDD will cause an error. *Cheats work fine when used with XCI via MicroSD.*
9) Using the latest SX OS 2.9 BETA on firmware 9.0.0: Attempting to use Homebrew apps while docked causes error 2168-0002.

I realize that there may be more issues I am unaware of. Some of the mentioned issues may only affect certain users. There may be more workarounds for some of these issues and many of these issues may be resolved by an update by TX.

TX did make a post on their discord warning the following, quote:
"@everyone There have been enough reports of people having trouble upgrading to 9.0 with choidujourNX... Please just stay on 8.1.0 until further notice while we look into what is going on. If you insist on upgrading it seems the 2.8 boot.dat file is not showing the same problems.
Remember

1: ALWAYS BACK UP YOUR NAND BEFORE CHANGING FIRMWARE VERSIONS. ALWAYS - NO EXCEPTIONS!

2: Disable any themes before upgrading firmware.

3: Always enable the exFAT driver when upgrading.

4: Pay attention to the AutoRCM option if you are using ChoidujourNX. Choose wisely."

Now we have to wait to see what response we get from TX, whether it be a new SX OS revision that includes many fixes to these issues or a statement/post addressing these problems. Personally I would recommend that TX temporarily removes the new 2.9 BETA download until these issues are looked into in more detail and a proper revision released that does not negatively impact their user base.

I made this post simply to warn others that may update without knowing this information. Hope I was able to help some.

Update: TX are aware of the bugs. They are working to resolve these issues and will be releasing a new SX OS revision that will include many bug fixes. Please note that this is a BETA version and users are encouraged to take the proper precautions including making backups prior to attempting firmware updates and/or any other major changes to their consoles. Users are also encouraged to wait until other community members have fully tested new BETA versions in order to ensure a smooth update. TX has also been providing a warning on the update page within SX OS which states, quote: "Note: Beta updates contain latest features but may have degraded stability.".
I didnt read all of this.

I got to the first part about firmware update.

Youd have to be an idiot to perform a firmware update while running an exploit cfw.

Do you not think Nintendo are going to put code in place to check if the firmware is legit or not.

Only do firmware updates while running official firmware.

Sx os is plug and play.

Ive updated to 9.0 and running 2.9beta and have no faults at all.

Everything with sx os works exactly as it should.

In regards to other homebrew tools then thats with them.

Ive actually updated today to prove a customer wrong who claimed his console will not load off usb hdd.

Later that twat admitted to running atmos and didbt update, so now thats me on firmware 9 and lost my abiltiy to use atmos and use the pointer search because he wont update his app.

But luckily i have fed this to xecuter and theyre working on improving the cheat feature.

What we really need is a tool to compare multiple dumps

If you did not take the time to read it then how are you able to say that everything is working. It is clear that there are issues with this release and you obviously haven't been using it long enough or using it to its full capabilities if you have not noticed any issues. For example, when you exit the album by pressing B while docked is throws an error which forces you to reboot the console. Before you go and write 13 separate lines of useless information you should properly educate yourself.
