TX Presents SX OS v2.9 BETA - With Full v9.0 Firmware Support!

NEW UPDATE FIXES UPGRADE ISSUES!

PLEASE USE V2.9.1b INSTEAD OF 2.9

YOU CAN NOW USE CHOIDUJOURNX 1.0.2 WITH 2.9.1b

**********************************************

Good day, fans and believers! We hope you are all having a good weekend.

SXOS29.png

Team-Xecuter has done it again, they have updated their world-famous SX OS to now support the latest v9.0 Switch firmware from Nintendo.
Today, we bring you a much needed update of SX OS. Full compatibility with the latest Switch firmware 9.0! Sorry that we kept you waiting, we wanted to make sure all our unique features still properly work.

Additionally, we also introduced support for the "Horizon split format". This means that people who use FAT32 can have folders named 'game.xci' with split parts contained therein (named 00, 01, 02, etc.). Make sure the folder has the 'archive' bit set.

We know you are waiting for some other big features in SX OS, they are coming.. We wanted to get this compatibility update out first though.

So what are you waiting for? SX OS 2.9 beta is available for download on our website now! (and also through the builtin online updater part of SX OS.)

Anyways, I need to head to bed. Even if I don't agree with everything SX OS does, I still hope everyone can at least get their consoles unbricked. Because that's a sucky thing to happen to anyone, especially for those who had it happen to their sysNAND.

I followed the post to use atmosphere and re-do the update and its all good now so even if it was sysnand people should not be bricked. There should be an edit on OP to help people who might have temp bricked. Best of luck to you all, and remember to back up the sysnand

I think the problem lies in the compatibility between choidujournx and sxos. The fact that the switch boots on atmosphere on 9.0 after updating on sxos means update/install is successful but probably something trips sxos after reboot. When update is redone in atmosphere and stable, sxos 2.9 works fine.

Yeah, seeing how Choi verified everything and just pooped out; and booting it again in atmosphere said 9.0.0 SX OS just couldn't finish whatever the last bit was; which is why most consoles aren't completely bricked. Though I would love for Nintendo to pull an Xbox and have a way to offline install updates in case something really breaks, or an official way to install updates offline.

the first rule of updating is always back up your NAND (both if you're using emu as well as sys).

That is 100% true and I legit thought there was a backup somewhere. A lesson to backup twice and update one. (And what got me was the for the last 5 updates it was update SX OS then update system but this time it was the other way around)

--------------------- MERGED ---------------------------

My emunand is still on 7.X and seeing how difficult everyone is having updating their emunands on this thread I'm worried about even attempting it
Backup your nand, but if you run SX OS 2.8 then update in emunand to 9.0. Turn off switch update to SX 2.9 you should be able to boot into your 9.0 emunand. Oh and make sure Choi is updated to the latest version I believe.

yeah has happened to me also mate, unfortunately it's a lesson I think we all need to learn the hard way :(

just leave it for a few days until there are probably updates for SX OS or choidujourNX and it should be smooth sailing. As you know there is no compelling reason to update to 9.0.0 at the moment other than FOMO.

My two switches (one in sxos and the other in atmosphere) are still in 8.1.0 emunand,. 5.1 sysnand.

I am probably one of those who upadate when my games won't run anymore in my current fw.

Currently is there any need for 9.0 ? Didnt saw any game which was needed. =)
But still thanks that the development continues, im really happy with SXOS.
Nope not really atleast for now. For Sysnand users that want to go online, but use emunand would be more logical. Having a 2nd switch for legitimacy play is best suited for this kind of situation hassle free. But eventually there will be updates/DLC that will require 9.0. Thats why getting the latest key dumps is crucial to those who stay on lower firms.

After reading all this i´m scratching my head and wonder what i should do.

Situation is as follows:
- I don´t use emunand at all (i´m banned and no prayer will ever change that)
- I´m currently at 8.1 and have SX-OS 2.9 on my SD-Card. That combination is working fine
- What does not work (nags me to do a sys-update) are .xci backups like Fifa 2020 and Grid Autosport

So, what i´m wondering is: What´s the suggested thing to do? Use the official way of updating? use choiddujournx?

Any non-bricking advise would be greatly appreciated :)

If you're already banned I would recommend using the official way of updating, that's what I do. Update SXOS then boot into OFW & update system firmware.

Move back to SX OS 2.8. Update either using Nintendo Servers or Offline. Turn off system put 2.9 sx os back on and you'll be on 9.0 with SX OS 2.9. That being said; I say create the Emunand so that way if you accidentally mess it up or something its easy to just make a new one using the sysnand.

From the team-xecuter website:-

'I still recommend staying on 8.1.0 or lower for now. There are problems with using the 2.9 boot.dat and ChoiDujourNX. But if you MUST update to 9.0.0. Then you will need to use the 2.8 boot.dat instead, and use ChoiDujourNX v1.0.2 to update. After it's complete, then you can put the 2.9 boot.dat on the SD card.

We are also releasing a firmware package with SX installer tomorrow if you would rather wait until then.

Apologies for the inconvenience!'

They are very lucky its not a full brick. Ironically the other CFW came to rescue, but it does teach them to test their stuff thoroughly.

On the switch it won't let me connect to this update. Keeps saying no Internet connection.

Is this because I have sky and team ex is blocked in the UK.

Really need a vpn now

So if you were to already update with v2.9 and is stuck like some people, is it considered brick? Or will they somehow fix it with that whole ChoiDujourNX freeze?

Not a brick; review the thread around two pages back. Hint: Use atmosphere and boot into that and use the FW installer and boot back into SX OS 2.9.

It's first time I'm using SX OS and how do install homebrew? And how do i install XCI? How do i use SX OS installere?
Check SX OS website for a guide or other threads.

There is no reason to update. No games require it and if they do. You can get spoofed firmware versions ie. Requires 9.x but spoofed to 8.x.

people that have the problem can either wait for a fix hopefully or unfortunately recreate their emuNAND. Backups are essential and DINT update when you don’t have to, just because SXOS supports 9.x no games support it so currently it is a pointless upgrade

And this will be why they potentially delayed the release + being a bit slack
