Sadly someone stole my beloved Switch in the metro/subway some days ago.
Luckily enough I have a batch backup from Checkpoint of all my games and a NAND dump.
Already ordered the Mario Odyssey Bundle as that one is hackable.

The catch is ... my NAND dump is newer than my last Checkpoint backup so I would like to get the savegames from there.
So my first question is: How can I do this?

Second question: Is there a way to apply my old history aka play time to the new Switch?

I mean this "BotW 200 hours, Smash 85 hours" and so on. Formerly known as activity app on Wii U/3DS.

Saves I know you can definitely grab from the user partition and get the raw save data via processing with something like hactool if you have your keys as well. The other stuff I have no clue

It will not help
But is it sure to get a hackable switch with the Mario odissey pack?
Where have you found it?
Thanks

the reason why it's for sure to be unpatched is that it came out before July 2018. ebay or amazon be placed to look but i found a hack switch brand new by asking for serial number before buying and run it in serial number checker

I d think anything saved with checkpoint can be restored to any other user or switch console

@lordelan ”Bastards”! Did you go in pursuit and try out a public arrest? I’m betting you was more worried about losing your 200hrs. on ZBOWild than your switch? I would be..

Saves are way more important than a console. My Ps3 Got YLoD in middle of persona 5. So i bought a PS4 and a Legit Copy of persona 5. got YLoD repaired. Transfered my pirated ps3 save to ps4 and risked getting a ban on both legit ps4 and old ps3. Total cost was more than 2 month of my job pay and i have no regret. Saves are way more important.

Ouch, sorry to hear about that. How could it possibly get stolen? You looked away?

It depends actually. If you never return to your saves, then you might as well lose them for all intents and purposes, no matter how much time went into the file.

I absolutely agree. It's sad I had to pay for another Switch but as stupid as it sounds, it's just money.
It hurts, sure, but a Switch is replacable (as long as hackable consoles are available at least).
But losing savegames is the absolute worst thing. It's like taking thousands of hours of your lifetime away.
That's why I'm really thankful for Checkpoint.
If I would have been legit (without CFW) all the time I would be completely f*cked right now.

I took the metro to the airport for a japan vacation and had too many bags with me. I know I should have focussed on the one with the Switch but unfortunately I did not.
I can't travel back in time so I gotta look forward. :D

To keep you updated:
Discorduser rikanee gave me some hints and I now I'm back home and have access to the NAND backup I luckily made very few weeks before my Switch was stolen.
I mounted the rawnand.bin with HacDiskMount and now I'm copying out the save and saveMeta folders.
He told me to bring those saves into a Checkpoint readable format by using hactoolnet:

Code:
hactoolnet.exe -t save "save/(mysave)" --outdir "out/(mysave)"

and that the play log is 80000000000000F0 in SYSTEM:/save

We'll see how far I can get.

Two questions:
  1. Does somebody know how to batch through all saves with hactoolnet instead of entering a comment for each single one?
  2. How can I mount an emuMMC partition in HacDiskMount to push the play log there? Is that even possible?

One thing that just occurred to me.... The sound on the 2600 sucked less back then the harsh sound we hear now is from infinitely better speakers we have now, back when the 2600 was new speakers produced a almost muffled sound, like CRTs made old graphics look slightly better.
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
I wonder if I could recommend that to some emulation devs that perhaps the sound could use some smoothing out to simulate those old TVs
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
I think a few of the early systems could benefit from that, at least up to the 8 bit generation, by the 16 bit generation I think TVs had gotten a lot better in almost every way

  • Xdqwerty @ Xdqwerty:
it says it only works for the original R4, R4i Gold (r4ids.cn), R4iDSN (r4idsn.com) and Acekard R.P.G.

Just give it a try, but honestly if you have a 3DS you can play DS games without a card just off the internal SD card
