Can the SwitchBru DNS exploit ban your switch? I'm just scared I gotta spend another 300 bucks
The SwitchBru DNS is not an exploit, its just a DNS setting. If DNS settings could ban your console, 90DNS would be the epitome of irony.
I just wanted to check: how likely is it that they are going to come out with an untethered version of CFW? And, is using a dongle the only way to get a CFW onto your switch at the moment?
Maybe by the end of life of the console if ever. And even if it was released, it would require emuMMC because it would be relegated to a specific firmware version. This is all theoretical however and no one publicly is working on an untetethered coldboot for the Switch. There are other ways of setting up CFW than a dongle. Although technically using a USB cable or trinket to boot CFW are alternatives, they use the same exploit as the dongle. There is another exploit by the name of Deja Vu which allows you to boot CFW via the web browser. However since this requires a network connection, it is still considered tethered but only wirelessly and it currently only supports up to firmware 4.1 with plans to support up to firmware 7.1

The link I gave you has instructions on it.

While maybe you personally have never run into any issues, I have seen it happen all too many times both on this site and via Discord. Also I think you quoted the wrong person for trying the latest version.

there is no usb installation screen, thats why i said it doesnt work

So I copied the files from atmosphere 0.9.4 to my sd card, replacing all existing files. Now it boots to sept, then returns to hekate. What am I doing wrong?
I use emummc with firmware 8.1.0 on it.

Edit: I was able to solve this problem myself. The reason was me using an older version of Hekate. Updating fixed it.

Hi, all.

I'm right now on 8.1.0 using Kosmos 13.2.1. I know that the new Kosmos is out with OS 9.0 support. Can you please tell me how I can update to the latest version? Do I also need to update my switch OS to 9 separately or I just need to update Kosmos?

I also read on github that: "Firmware update 9.0 updated the gamecard reader firmware! If you want to use your gamecard reader but don't want to burn your fuses, you have to disable autonogc within the hekate GUI. THIS IS IRREVERSIBLE!" I have the physical copy of BOTW, so I appreciate any help with how I can disable autonogc in hekate GUI.

Thanks.

What I did wrong was not to update hekate. Sorry for wasting your time.

I went through the whole process just to find out I can't inject hekate because my switch is updated to 9.0 ):
Well now both Hekate and Atmosphere support firmware 9.0. Although you do not need Hekate to support a particular firmware in order to inject it. Payloads are firmware agnostic and only work if the console is not patched.

Apart from online play, nothing requires firmware 9.0 right now so I advise against updating.

so, I am still at 8.1.0 and with the update to Atmos and Hetake I don't see why I shouldn't update, should I update with Choidujour or directly from the EmmuMMC menu?
There are plenty of reasons to not update. For one thing, not all homebrew may work properly on 9.0. There also no ES patches at the moment meaning unconverted .NSP files will not work on 9.0 either. In short, unless you play online heavily, there is no reason to update to 9.0.

yeah, you're right, I will until a game finally requires to update to 9.0.0 to use it before updating.

Well, I got an error once I tried to inject Hekate_ctcaer_5.0.1 .bin file into my switch using the Tegra program. My computer recognized my switch as RCM device. I still got an error. Do you have an idea why if it isn't because my switch is 9.0?
