Xenoblade Chronicles: Definitive Edition will launch on the Switch next year

Nintendo is bringing back their much-beloved modern JRPG, Xenoblade Chronicles, to a new platform. Nintendo Switch owners will get the chance to play a remastered version of the 2011 title, when it launches next year. Intricate details were not given, but a trailer shows off what the game will look like on the Switch.

Actually they released it as a Wii Virtual Console title on the Wii U, but even then it was just the Wii version :P

I am SO excited for this!

They seem to have finished the original game, huge parts where originally cut and they seem to be in here! Shulk also has a Monado that I don't recognize.

Maybe they'll flesh out the post game story that was in a book as well. It ties up a couple lose ends the original skimmed over.

how is this compared to the Xenoblade game on the Switch?
In the first Xenoblade:
- Exploration is IMHO better.
- Story is quite better.
- Say what you will, I prefer its character designs.
- Combat is a bit different, XC2 is more streamlined, perhaps XC2 is better... hmmm.
- Graphics are better in XCX2.
- I believe OST is better in the first one, but in this aspect both are great.
- Both are very long.

Am I the only one who despises X's sub par soundtrack? Nothing but "uh's" and "yeahs" please, it's too gangsta for my tastes.
I agree, the music on the ship was terrible!
But the music in the jungle level (can't remember what it was called) was some of the best 'jungle-y' music I've ever heard! I even listen to it in the car still sometimes (sad, I know)....

now, that's how you do a REMASTER. the quality looked amazing, definitely a nintendo quality seal.
You haven't seen anything besides a non gameplay trailer all pre scripted. The non gameplay trailer of xenoblade chronicles 2 also looked tons better than what we got

100% agreed with the Last Story people here. I thought the combat was way more enjoyable than Xenoblade's and the game's length of ~20 hours was a lot more manageable. The multiplayers rocked (still does - was playing last night) and it would be so cool to play the game on the go and see players populate the servers again! Would finally push me over the line for a Switch.

this is a remake not a remasters, you can see they didnt just increased textures and resolution but they remade stuff, probably will be graphicaly the same as XC2 but its a remake not a remaster.

Wat
The first XC2 trailer was way worse than the final game
I disagree. I just rewatched it and there was way more happening in the background with a much further view distance and no pop ups. It also had a much stronger anti aliasing going out since the textures are less blocky and have a smoother blurry outline meaning more anti aliasing. The grass in the trailer was fully textured and animated instead of what we got in game wich was basically one big large picture of grass as a texture with some patches here and there. Also watched the gameplay trailers again that was played in the caves and there were constant bright godrays wich we didn't get in the released game. Is that your seal of quality ?

Oh shit I just rewatched it and you are right.
It's possible the game was downgraded for time constraints and this is why it looks worse.
