No problem. I will say it's a little buggy at the moment and I haven't gotten rid of all of the honorifics yet as they've used some I'm not sure how they fit in with the context. I believe the editor for the RF4 text files is adding in extra lines for this particular file as in the clip I posted above wasn't showing any name at all until I added it the the correct blank line. So Basically if you see some thing that still has an honorific or if you see a number please send me a screenshot or the context for what was said around it and I'll get it fixed ASAP.

I've put the files into different folders, which are labeled for with and without honorifics, so that way you just need to copy and paste which ever one you want into the text folder of LordBone's original upload. I didn't go through and test the one with honorifics so if you guys encounter any issues just let me know and I'll get those fixed as well.

Edit 1: Fixed issues pointed out bye RisingHopperZeroOne and added the parent folders to the download so you wouldn't need to go the correct folder and can just extract it to the same place you extracted LordBone's translation
Edit 2: Updated the non-honorific version to contain all the same information as the 3DS English text file.
Edit 3: I've added the honorifics to the 3DS English text file
Edit 4: Updated the non-honorifics version so that the game would freeze if Volkanon said you'd win the festival
Edit 5: I've removed all the English honorifics like Miss, Sir, Mr ect from the English non-honorific version as they were causing the game to freeze.

Happy to help. I'm also looking into getting the menus translated and getting the textures swapped around for the lesbian/gay mod to be somewhat functional.

Okay, I started a new game and while I couldn't get all of it, here is some errors I've found.

I hope there is a way to increase the amount of characters so the dialogue doesn't just get cut off.

Ok so with that I'm more convinced than ever that the editor is adding extra blank lines to these files when it decodes them. Going to get rid of those lines and test it out.

I've updated the file on the original post so that way you won't need to go to the last post for the newest version. I've gotten rid of the blank spaces and it seems to have fixed the issue. The exact reason that I didn't touch the honorifics (nicknames) file, is because the game kept crashing and crashing when the modified names came up in dialog. Even when I just modified "さん" to "-san" it crashed for me. So I decided to keep it Japanese. But if you can ""Englishify"" it without crashes, then thank you for fixing stuff.

I believe the reason why it was crashing before is because the Switch's Japanese text file refers to the main character as @しゅじんこうくん@ while the 3DS English text file's refer to the main character as @@. On that note, I'm updated the file without honorifics to match the 3DS English file exactly now instead of the one by one replacement I was doing before. It's going to take me some more time before I'll be finished updated the honorifics.

I have found the location of the menu text, unfortunately they are images and I will most likely be unable to translate them as well as I was able to do the text because of that.

For what ever reason, when I change the image it's making it darker. But I believe it will be usable.
I suppose you could make your own images significantly brighter so when they go dark they'll be closer to normal.

Maybe it's not actually a limit in itself, but more in how it handles the text? Like a buffer size or something?

I finished a basic translation of the menus. Here's a video and a pic of the start screen with how they look. I've also notice a bug with the nick name's file where the line with Volkanon saying that you're expected to win the festival crashes the game. So I'll be updating that file as soon as I confirm whether its an issue with the non-honorific version as well.



To install the title translations just extract the file to the same location as LordBone's original translation.

Probably. It's a fairly simple LayeredFS operation, so even the outdated code they stole for it should still work. I've seen reports of some LayeredFS stuff not working, but this one is very simplistic so should be ok. That said, there's no surer way to find out than just to try it and see.

do u guys gonna make an undub when the english release
RF4SP apparently uses basically the same layout as the 3DS version. As such it would be insanely unrealistic to do an undub. The original team that worked on it tried very hard to do an undub and ultimately it was found that it was just so much easier to simply translate the Japanese version that it was best just to do that. Given that this has the same basic layout I believe that this will apply here too. Especially since most of the groundwork was already done in that project (why reinvent the wheel?)

I use SX OS beta 2.8 with my Switch’s firmware at 8.1 for all my testing. Also while as of right now I’m not too sure where the voice lines are stored for RF4S, once I get some time I’ll definitely look into that as well.
