Disney Classic Games Collection sees Aladdin and The Lion King get remastered versions

Zd41nNi.png

Back in the 1990's, Disney had a solid track record of making video game adaptations of some of its most famous movies of the decade. Ones that Sega Genesis/Super Nintendo fans are sure to remember are The Lion King and Disney's Aladdin, released in 1993 and 1994 respectively. Now, a whole new world generation can get to experience those beloved titles, as both will be fully remastered in 1080p in the upcoming Disney Classic Games Collection. This dual pack will see both the SNES and Genesis versions of each game, including their original soundtracks, with the ability to fast-forward and rewind--which may help with The Lion King's notorious difficulty. The Disney Classic Games Collection will be available for pre-order starting tomorrow, and will release on the Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One later this fall.

Disney remakes movies and remakes games. Hope a remade theme park comes soon.

Either way, great games. And putting both SNES and MD versions is just perfect.

If you guys didn't know, it was one of Walt Disney's wishes to remake the same stuff as technology progresses, using the new technology to make it better.

I do, of course. I don't mind, as long as there's quality. And I certainly don't complain.

Aha...but the big question remains:

...will Will Smith be in the remastered version? :tpi:

(on a more serious note: Aladdin on SNES was a very good game. I played through it again on emulators not that long ago, and man...it really was more difficult than I remember (or I'm getting old, of course). It baffles me how I somehow finished that game before quicksaves/rewind functions were available  ).

Huh? They were on gog.com?

*searches*

Okay...it seems that you're certainly correct on these. In fact, gog.com removed them from their site on publisher's request (link & link)

That's sad lol, didn't know that

I still have Aladdin on SNES and Lion King on Game Gear.

I remember when I finally beat the damn carpet flying lava level. I spent weeks on that level. And then when I finally beat the game, I'm pretty sure I felt like a god.

And Lion King...those bloody monkeys....

EDIT: I also apparently own Lion King on Genesis.

So technically it's a collection of 3 games.

It's (inexplicably) the Genesis and SNES versions of each game, so technically 4 games.

--------------------- MERGED ---------------------------

Why the deuce is the SNES Aladdin not included? Total dick move, Disney.

"This dual pack will see both the SNES and Genesis versions of each game"

Right there in the OP

Disney’s Aladdin - SEGA Genesis version
Disney’s Aladdin - Game Boy version (includes “Super Game Boy version,” which implies a bit more color, Super Game Boy-style)
Disney’s Aladdin Final Cut - We don’t know what this is but asked (we haven’t heard back)
Disney’s Aladdin Trade Show Demo - A demo version “that has not been publicly available since 1993,” according to the press release
The Lion King - SEGA Genesis version
The Lion King - Super Nintendo version
The Lion King - Game Boy version (also includes “Super Game Boy" version)

False, there's no SNES Aladdin, Disney's just run by cheap bastards.

The real outrage is lack of Game Gear versions.

Also I'm a little worried why there would be seperate SNES and Genesis "versions" of Lion King. Weren't they basically the same game with some graphical/sound differences, that an HD remaster should fully replace anyway? Or is this just emulation with some smoothing filters?

That sucks, and it makes no real sense either. Why is SNES Lion King there but not Aladdin?

Because Capcom are dumbasses, and they own the rights to the SNES version, apparently. Well, this just gives me another reason to pirate their games. Yeah, not buying this.

This I agree with!;)

This reminds me of the situation with the Konami Arcade Classics collection for Switch.

so instead of the snes version the one that's a cool platformer where you jump on the heads of bad guys to defeat them (it's a mee aladio!) they throw in the worst genesis version the one where you have a sword. Aladdin didn't have a fucking sword in the movie!
