RetroArch offers a quick look at the new features in their upcoming 1.7.8 update

A new stable version of RetroArch is on the way; version 1.7.8 is almost here, bringing with it a few new and interesting changes. In a video uploaded by the LibRetro team, we can see some of those new features in action, like game disc dumping, on-demand thumbnail downloads, better speech to text, being able to tap your phone's touchscreen to shoot in lightgun games, and more. RetroArch v1.7.8 is officially due out this month, with nightly builds already available.

Some nice features there.
Looking forward to lightgun touchscreen support though hope that works for everything that uses a light gun or in the case of some games light gun and extra buttons.

Also love that music.
Wish they posted the source/artist etc.

Since the XMB isn't fast enough for Pi's I wonder how many features won't make it over. Just those custom themes for RGUI in the video looked too complicated to run smoothly with the overlays and shaders on (Pi3b+). As for the positives, 2x scanlines (much needed), and per console settings in the main config are very nice additions.

Nice nice!
Retroarch seemingly is getting better and better with each release. Just goes to show that their next release isn't a mere bump in version number.
I wonder if the Switch version of retroarch will see this new update too..

Dont really care for the phone based stuff such as touchscreen support for lightguns etc. The rest of it sounds like some of it may actually be useful.

Looks neat, but the UI on PC is still really bad, but it's working great on Switch
Was never a great fan of the XMB style tho, the new one is best in every way, but on PC it's a real pain to be forced to launch first the XMB UI to be able to then, launch the desktop UI (which isn't really intuitive)

Man, no matter what GUI they implement, people are never pleased. That'll be a cold day in hell it seems.
