Seller pleading ignorance? I need to wait a week then can open a case against it. I need to take a look at a non damaged one to see if I can salvage this.. Somehow??
Looks like maybe 2 pads are gone, unless there is 4 underneath them scratches?
Paypal should easily get you your money back. Hopefully someone here can send an image of the affect area. Should be a simple bridge job, unless even more stuff has been killed underneath. Hopefully that;s not what;s happened.

There's no way it's not intentional. That many scratches and that deep? Almost seems to me like the seller sold it without the sd card port because it got damaged, then decided to maliciously damage the mobo to make sure the buyer wouldn't make any money off of their foolishness.
Never attribute to malice and all that.

Anyway I have seen that sort of thing done before when someone thought soldering involved some force. Though I am not seeing much burning in that.

Looks almost like someone thought they could use a dremel in place of a soldering iron to get a chip off and figured they just needed to get a little bit of an angle in it and -slip-
Do those resistors somehow miraculously still work?

This clown has butchered it!
I know its dead just thought I would show it off to some of the wonders of ebay sellers....
The switch does power on and apparently works but the sd card is fu##ed!

Omg poor little switch:( RIP

I also got a few switches out of ebay that were sold as "wont power may have other faults" and turned out to be real ballers...

I report these sellers... they clearly have been inside the switch themselves and so it is false advertising even thou I can't claim refund

Then I try making the most out of the boards as donor and consoles parts but.. is really shameful of this butchers indeed

i am going to try and get a refund, however worse case this could be the perfect console to do an emmc upgrade? then not as important to have external sd card?

The question is however how much more damage might be done. I would count this as a spareparts machine at max.

I would imagine it being a massive hassle to set everything up on a system with no SD. You'd have to customise RCM payloads and CFW loaders to read everything from NAND, and you'd have to dump keys and stuff over USB or something. Probably not impossible but a lot of extra work.

It always amazes me the ways people manage to damage boards. How do you even manage to do damage like that? Were they using a damn blowtorch?
was sold as faulty but, "missing sd card slot" does not really cover it...
You live and learn, I will probably relist with more accurate detail, someone will find use for it!
Maybe My Mate VINCE on YouTube will want it, he's UK based.
He does a lot of "trying to repair" videos on faulty Switches as a hobby, he probably won't be able to do anything to fix the SD slot, but maybe he can use it for spares.

If you paid via PayPal, request a refund. If the seller tries to dispute it, PayPal will step in, and mediate. You can then explain the situation, and show the faulty board. They will side with you, and you'll get your refund.

thanks, opened a case and "requested" the seller for a refund.
He will say no but will let ebay step in after that.
Thanks for the input, at least you have all seen how badly some boards get treated!

Taking a close peek at the picture the motherboard seemingly appear to be scratched with some sharp prying tool or perhaps a knife or some other sharp blade of some sort.
The other thing i could hazard as to guess would be a claw mark from some rabid and feral cat

I think you will be able to return it. It should be in the description. If your not happy with the product you can return it.
