Are you interested in a complete replacement of TwlBg which includes all patches?

@chocoboss It sounds like you did the patching right, because the stretching part is what the TwlBg patch does, the widescreen aspect ratio is coming from the software side--except that for you, it's not. :/

Could you make sure that you have a folder on your SD card, sdmc:/_nds/TWiLightMenu/widescreen and that it contains a lot of files with names like "A39E-F4AD.bin" and similar?

Im trying to get widescreen to work on my new3ds. I've installed the newest version of Twilight menu and as well as gone through the steps for widescreens with no errors messages. DS games boot fine in 4:3 but when I change the setting in twilight to 16:9 and try to boot a game I get a black screen and "An exception occurred" error in processor ARM9 with exception type "prefetch abort (svBreak)" and then I have to turn off the system.

On a similar note, I also get an "an exception occurred error" and black screen when I exit a game by holding L, R, B and down.

Thanks for the help!

I will try thank you ! =)

@Vague Rant it works with mario kart / SM64 but it didn't work with french version of pokemon :/

Some games, specially different language versions of Pokemon games have no support yet, or can't be recognized by TM++ if the roms have some kind of patch (like an AP patch) because it modifies the header for some reason. I'm not sure itf there's a list of games that currently have support for WS patches, but surely it exists, you could check in the official thread.

Hello all,
I have a N2DS with luma.
I follow the guide for the wide screen for 2/3ds and manual install last version of both cias.
Super mario 64 starts in wide screen mode but the picture on both screens is half corrupted.
Any idea what wrong ?

Don't hold start/select when running TWLMenu. It's an issue with the widescreen patch.

I just tested this, and I get similar results to this where I was right about the VSync being off, but didn't know what caused this.

@Robz8 please add this to the guide until I make a patch which can either solve or get around this issue

Edit: "corrupted top screen and half-missing bottom screen? just don't press START/SELECT"

Hello all, annoying problem here, I have enabled external FIRM in LUMA, used the TWPatcher and also created the widescreen.cxi file, I managed (I don't know how) to run pokemon white 2 in widescreen, turned off the console and now I always get the message "failed to backup custom twlbg" and then the game is launched in 4:3, any idea why ?

@Griizly From what I can tell, that occurs when you have a TwlBg.cxi and a TwlBg_bak.cxi in the directory sdmc:/luma/sysmodules of your 3DS SD card. TWLMenu++ tries to rename the former to the latter, so if you've got both, it'll fail. If this is indeed the issue, you should be able to solve it by deleting either both TwlBg files or just TwlBg_bak.cxi, depending on whether you actually want to keep a custom TwlBg.cxi.

@Griizly I don't, sorry. It sounds like somehow, TWLMenu++ failed to delete the backup when it was finished with it; end-users basically should never see that file because it's supposed to go away as soon as a widescreen game has finished launching.

EDIT: What I can say is that I've had this happen on older versions when TWLMenu++ crashed and failed to launch a game, forcing me to reboot. With the current version I haven't had any crashes so I haven't had that issue again myself.

Which filter setting did you applied ? I will mainly play pokemon games, tried both sonos crisp and linear interpolation 1 but my game is verry blurry in widescreen ( looks like the top screen is just stretched )
