Yes someone will, but you need an AMD card to redeem I think.
Also the 580 pulse is up for $170 without MIR right now.

Right now I have a 580 pulse plugged in, if there's any test you'd like me to run let me know.
You only need the card's serial number.

The problem is that I don't actually know if a 12-14% boost in performance is worth $20. If it is, then I'll gladly swap out.

Edit: I checked the XBOX Game Pass for PC that comes bundled with the RX 590 and nothing on the games list appeals to me, so they could give me a lifetime subscription and it wouldn't matter. However, if I am able to just sell the redemption code or whatever to someone else for like $10 and then the Devil May Cry game that also gets bundled for another $10, then I guess it costs the same as the RX580. Would anyone actually buy it though?
If you are that stingy for 20$, perhaps you should skimp on some stuff:P But honestly, if you want to sell the codes and all, go ahead if you think it will be worth it, but heads up that because of keys online being sold dirt cheap you won't profit much if any and you might not be able to give all codes away so check their details first. Also, if you can give them away, might as well directly trade them for a key for World, just saying...

@Duo8 thanks for the offer. If by any chance Capcom decides on releasing a beta for PC like they did for XBOX and PS4, then could you try that?

@ThoD Good point on just trading the codes for MHW haha. The XBOX Game Pass for PC says it has a $29.99 value and it says that the Devil May Cry 5 game has a $39.99 value. Together that's $69.98! Considering MHW is routinely on sale for like 50% off (around $25ish), I think I should be able to find a person to trade with. Unless you think I can get greedy and ask for the entire Iceborne bundle together. Heck even standalone Iceborne would also be fine, as I can just get World myself.

Now I just have to hope that they have a similar promotion 3-4 months from now when I actually plan on buying these parts. Imagine the savings!

I'll only have it for a few days

It's okay then. Unless you already happen to have MH World, I don't see anything having a good 1:1 comparison, and even then, The expansion is even more taxing than the base game.

Guess I'll go with 590 then. Thoughts on SSD? I was recommended Samsung 970 Evo 500 GB M.2-2280 NVME Solid State Drive. They told me it's one of the best there is because of NVME or something and it's good future proofing. It's a bit on the expensive side though.
Keep in mind though I'm using very old drivers. Running at 1080p Highest
You can just get a SATA drive, they're much cheaper.
EDIT: I may be CPU bottlenecked, I have an old haswell CPU.

@Duo8 the reddit page is showing the Ballistix Sport LT 16GB (2 x 8GB) DDR4 3200 Memory $69.99. Is this better than the other one because of the 3200 vs the 3000, or does the CAS latency make it worse? The 3200 is 16 and the 3000 is 15. Which one would be better?

EDIT: Apparently Ryzen only supports even CAS latencies (14, 16, 18), and only "supports" up to 2666/2993 MHz, but they say higher than 3000 MHz is still okay because of the way they are made or something. I guess I'm switching out the RAM.

Should be about the same, 3200C16 is slightly better binned I believe.
RAM OC is a thing and "sweet spot" for ryzen is 3733MHz.

I've been doing some reading, and they say that since DDR5 is coming out in early 2020, they will stop making DDR4, the overstock supply of DDR4 will end, and as a result it will become more expensive. I just checked amazon/newegg for DDR3 and they basically go for the same price as DDR4 at the same frequencies.

My question is that if I buy the RAM right this second out of fear of potential rising prices, how will I be able to tell if they are dead on arrival? Does the return policy work if I don't let them know for like 3 months because I don't have a computer to test them with?

There's no way unless there's an obvious physical defect.

I guess I'll just hope for the best that prices don't increase and wait until Novemberish before I buy. I looked up their website and it said they have a 45 day RMA policy.

Considering they STILL make DDR3 memories even, why TF would they stop DDR4 just because DDR5 comes out? It's not even coming out properly, it's "coming out" the same way DDR4 did back in the day where it was released at the very start of a year on a really specific small part of the market, then a good 8-9 months later was actually released in quantities that were meant to sell worldwide, they always do it so that people who can promote and test that stuff are able to get the hardware first, then do all the post-launch testing for the manufacturer and give feedback and it's only then after they are certain no more revisions are needed that they actually launch. That's been going on since DDR2 first came out, doubt they'd change it... Don't expect DDR5 to be the norm until mid-2021 and at a really high price to boot, while DDR4 will stay around as a budget option instead until whatever comes after DDR5 is bit over a year away. Also, DDR, DDR2, DDR3, DDR4 and DDR5 all use literally the same materials in their chips, only things that change are production methods, design efficiency and some other things, so they have absolutely no reason to stop producing DDR4 just because DDR5 is out, especially if DDR5 is a big spike in price over DDR4.

As for your question, as long as you don't buy some random shitty brand of RAM, ALL RAM sticks actually come with lifetime warranty as it's one of the few components that don't really deteriorate over years, so even if you buy it now and you find out it's not working two years later, you should still be able to get a refund/replacement. Anyways, my advice is to just get it when you get the system, don't worry about price spikes, with the bitcoin bullshit having blown up and being a thing of the past, the market FINALLY after almost a decade is getting more freedom with the materials to make memory chips, so prices won't go up anymore for GPUs/RAMs, at least for the time being, if anything, things might go back to being the normal price instead of literally double/triple what they are actually worth.

Pretty solid build just two things imo.
>paying more than 100 dollars for a CPU
>falling for the SSD meme

that is all.
OP, this guy is a complete idiot seeing how he doesn't know what he's talking about, just ignore him, no new unused CPU under 100$ is even able to run World without tweaking things to a crazy degree since World is by far one of the most CPU-heavy games out there! As for SSD, while normally it doesn't matter and a regular 7200RPM SATA 6GB HDD will do for most stuff and even World, an SSD specifically for this game makes the loading times go from ~30 seconds to literally ~2 seconds... If it was any other game SSDs would be obsolete, this is probably the only game out there that has such an enormous difference between normal fast drives and SSDs!

Very true.

Not 100% true a sub 100 dollar AMD FX chip I'm sure could run MH World with no problem.
Also very true, I use a SSD to play Destiny 2 on PC and loading into the Hub area is cut by almost half over a mechanical drive. Is that worth paying almost double the price as traditional storage? I don't have the answer to that. But that's half the fun of PC building is all the different philosophies and needs/wants for a build.

I'll be switching out the SSD to avoid the "Samsung" tax, so I'll be saving money there. Sadly, I'll also be upgrading the CPU to an even higher price point because everywhere I look people are saying that the 3600 is the best price to performance ratio and there is no reason not to spend the extra $50 to get that instead. I may or may not need a new mobo. Mine is compatible, but I'll still look around.

I nw
Hopefully final update unless new information comes out

This is my first time building a PC, so bear with me.
My friend wants me to play Monster Hunter World with him on PC once the Iceborne expansion releases in January 2020.
My only goal is to play it at 720p @ 60FPS (480p is also acceptable, but I won't budge on the 60 FPS). All other settings can be minimum. I looked at Capcom's website for recommended builds, then went to PCPartPicker and just picked cheap and 5 star rated stuff centering around the CPU and GPU.

This is what I scrounged together.

CPU

AMD Ryzen 5 2600X 3.6 GHz 6-Core Processor $145.89

CPU Cooler
None

Motherboard
MSI B450M GAMING PLUS Micro ATX AM4 Motherboard $94.89 -$10.00 rebate $84.89

Memory
Crucial Ballistix Sport LT 16 GB (2 x 8 GB) DDR4-3200 Memory $69.99

Storage
Samsung 970 Evo 500 GB M.2-2280 NVME Solid State Drive $89.99

Video Card
Sapphire Radeon RX 590 8 GB PULSE Video Card $194.99 -$5.00 rebate $189.99 but comes with XBOX Game Pass for PC and DMC 5 ($69.98 value to be used for trading for MHW or something)

Case
Thermaltake Versa H15 MicroATX Mid Tower Case $44.99 -$15.00 rebate $29.99

Power Supply
Already purchased EVGA 750 GQ, 80+ GOLD 750W, Semi Modular

OS
Unactivated Windows 10

Monitor
I already have an AOC C24G1 I bought on a whim for some reason.

Estimated Wattage: 404W

Base Total: $640.74
Promo Discounts: -$5.00
Mail-in Rebates: -$25.00
Total: $610.74

https://pcpartpicker.com/list/V2rYpG

Money is technically no object for me, but I'd prefer not to piss money away when I'm basically buying this PC for one game, so I'd like to keep it as budget as possible, but still able to play future games at minimum settings if I ever felt like it.

Since I will not be playing until January 2020 or later on when the expansion goes on sale or something, is there anything I should watch out for? Are there certain parts releasing in that time-frame that makes the current build obsolete or a waste of money if I buy something too soon? How aggressive should I be with the settings on email alerts for price drops and rebates? Should I aim for the historic minimum for everything? Should I buy everything at once or keep it spread out over a few months? Any help is appreciated.
I would also suggest showing this to the guys over at https://www.reddit.com/r/buildmeapc/ they helped me make sure everything was in working order

@Maximumbeans, Indeed. I've been working on getting this Infecutus chip to work on my PS2. But after soldering, I realised that a plastic piece was missing from the power ribbon cable to the power and eject buttons.
  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
Now I could go with soldering the contacts from the cable to the connector on the mobo, but doesn't sound like a good permanent solution.
