Which version of BOOP were you using? I had the same problem with remote installations on files that were larger than 650MB, saw a suggestion to try v.1.4.0 instead of the more current v.2.0.0 and it worked for me

Boop v2.0.0, never used it got same problem, Googled myself to this topic;
I tried port 5001 (Windows 10) and this port works for me now. (If windows) Try to disable the Windows firewall or try several other ports.

For those of you getting 'request timed out' errors repeatedly:

If you are using your phone as a wireless hotspot to connect your PC and your 3DS, please be aware that modern smartphone hardware utilizes a number of power-saving techniques to prolong battery life. One of these is quite regularly turning off the WiFi antenna when the phone is in a low-power state (usually, that means screen off). This can play havoc with any client-server connections as the WiFi chip only wakes periodically to send and receive signals, causing (you guessed it) very slow transfer speeds and high probability of timeouts.

You can greatly increase the reliability of your connection by keeping your device out of its low power state - usually by keeping the screen of your device turned on. On Android, this can be achieved by increasing the screen timeout, or by enabling the developer option to never turn the device display off when charging.

Hope that helps!

- EDIT -

Also, semi-related, the home menu will add shortcuts to file installed via FBI remote install IN THE REVERSE ORDER to which they are sent. If you like having your games organized (like I do), you can have everything added to your home menu in regular alphabetical order by changing line 42 in servefiles.py (the script this program is based on) to this:

for file in sorted([ file for file in next(os.walk(directory))[2] if file.endswith(('.cia', '.tik')) ], reverse=True):

Logged in just to say THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU to the OP on this. Downloaded 1.4, dragged 88MB and 680 MB cia backups of my games and was able to install over my own network with two clicks. The world needs more people like you!

I'm always getting "failed to install from url"
Tried both version 1.4 and 2.0
Size of cia also doesn't matter. Happens with 35 mb files.
I clicked allow when windows firewall popped up
Any ideas?

I'm getting an error when trying to select a certain CIA.

View attachment 148745

This only happens to this particular game, any and all other cia's work perfectly fine. They are all in the same folder, BOOP is ran as administrator etc etc. I shall paste in the details text.

EDIT: Okay I managed to fix it myself. The source of this CIA, had marked it as "read-only". For whatever reason this stopped BOOP from being able to access/read the file? Regardless, easy fix was to just untick the read-only and now works perfectly.

thanks
