yes, that's the way it was beforehand. now, it seems to move to and from with games like super mario 64 and pokemon platinum. dragon quest ix doesn't seem to work. if I manually place the file in sysmodules, then everything is in widescreen.
Then everything is fixed now.
Dragon Quest IX is not widescreen-supported, so for it to still run in 4:3 (without manually placing the file in sysmodules) is expected.

You should probably put something in the widescreen tutorial about launching a game in widescreen requiring start/select to not be held when launching TWLMenu, as I attempted to do that but it breaks the screens in the widescreen mode. Here's an image of what I mean, I'd attatch it directly but it's really big.

@Robz8 , I found some sort of bug with dragon quest ix. if I load it normally, the save doesn't boot up. it's detected, but it seemingly freezes when you load it. however, if the game is part of the last rom played, the save works normally.

Sorry I’m late to the scene

1) is it stretched widescreen or looks natural? Or bit of both? Anyone go back to 4:3 after dabbling?

Very interesting!

2) Is there any way to not do manual update? I think I’m on v8.4.3 and old bootstrap. Gotta get my 3ds out of its difficult plastic case i believe and hook up microSD, FTP’ing doesn’t work for transferring over all files as I recall
3) is it ok I’m on an older Luma for 11.9 haven’t updated that or to 11.10 firmware either
4) any fear of games or game saves getting erased?

Think thats it, thanks

1) It's anamorphic widescreen, so a cheat code squishes the image with more on the sides, then the widescreen TwlBg stretches the image back out.
2) Nope.
3) If your Luma version is older than v10, turn on game patching in Luma config.
4) Nope.

Hey, so I followed the instructions just as I was told for the widescreen and it just doesn't seem to work. Is there a more refined way of doing it or a setting in the launcher that I have wrong?

Did you set "16:10" in TWLMenu++ settings, and external modules in Luma config?
Did you also do the manual updating method?

thanks worked like a charm! removing the plastic snap on (orzly) gets easier every time but still a PITA.

1) can you eli5 why this feature isn't baked in and has to be manually done with that .exe and .bat to make the magic happen?
2) also more important, its 'normal' to see a quick graphical glitch on right side of screen booting up a game (someone screenshotted it, but I don't see it when the game actually loads) . not sure if all or just some titles, just started playing/testing

Looks great so far from a quick glance!
