There is forced state education (modern times) and there is education by relatives (for thousands of years).
One of them happens to be better to keep the new generation in line.

There are sticks and stones (thousands of years) and there are nuclear weapons (modern times). One of them happens to be better at keeping potential enemies from attacking you.

NO CONSPIRACY NEEDED.

Zkhool is necessary just so teens don't go saying that the earth is flat. And thinking they're SOCIALISTS because they use social networks.

I mean, for the most BASIC intellectual education, School is OK.

For anything else... meh... I disagree with the system of going to College later, to get a job even mooore later.

For instance, I just completed Highschool, because I can't enter to College, and those whom do has a college degree, can't get better jobs than cashiers or office jobs. Some of my "friends" are already done with their careers and they can't find a job in their speciality.

Aftee Highschool, I found out BY MYSELF that I am good at Languages, and that I like Maths and Physics and Coding. A major flaw with any school system, is that you're measured on grades and not on talents and that you're prrtty much subjected to whatever the school wants to teach you instead of exploiting you intellectually. Like, my sister just entered to a College and they're teaching her the same things I am studying by myself (Maths and other basic subjects)

And... one thing I find interesting is that I have better chances on getting paid as a Comic Artist or Character Designer, than going to college and getting a job later...

Like... my friends have stopped talking to me for that. Literally...

Also... it's far easier and quicker for me to work on things that I am good at, than hopping my grades are high enough to get a mediocre 8h a day 6d a week job to get paid each month a miserable salary

Expanding on things that you are talented in is what you do when you are done with lower education, and know the very basic things you need to know to function on society. You would not be able to write this post if you hadn't been through school. Everyone is taught similar things in primary and lower high school because those are the things you need to know to be able to function as an adult.

To get a job as an artist you will need an expansive portfolio - and guess what art class in school is good for? Creating a portfolio. How do you think you would develop your art talents if there was no school and your parents could not afford art supplies, and knew nothing about art so couldn't teach you anything? You'd never get hired, you might not even know you had a talent there.

In regards to it being better to focus on what you're good at earlier and get a job sooner - you can already do that. It is called an apprenticeship, and you can do them from year 10 (here at least). For kids that know they are going to use their hands and not their minds for their career.

You are measured in grades because there needs to be some kind of objective system for students to be compared, and to identify the ones that need extra help. It does not make sense to evaluate students on talent, as they are innate - you can't get more talent that you're not born with. Everyone would be getting the same evaluation throughout their life since it is something you can't change. It only makes sense to evaluate students (to find the ones that need extra help) on how much they know out of what is being taught, and how much effort they are putting in to learning it. If you can think of a better way than grades, then you'll probably revolutionise education, so I encourage you to share your ideas with others.

Hopefully no.
I am turning 26 this sunday, and five different doctors gave me "hopes of a normal life" until I am 28.

I've tried to suicide thrice, ten years ago.
So I truly hope NOT to be -alive- here anytime soon...
Last year I lost my daughter so... :creep: have nothing left to be honest.

Education by relatives means that many kids will be left with no education and will end up homeless because they can't function in society - luckily first world countries care about their citizens enough to make sure everyone gets an education. Can you think of a better way to make sure all kids receive education than external school? Do you think governments should mandate that every family must have at least one parent at home to teach the kids, and employ millions of assessors to visit people's homes and make sure the kids are being taught properly? What if one wage is not enough to support the family, they must live in poverty even though both parents are capable of working? What about single parent households, do they need to be homeless with their children and beg for food while they're not teaching their kids because they can't work due to being forced to educate their children themselves?

I don't want to give you a false hope, I don't believe it's false at all but that's beside the point.

I'm sorry that you lost your daughter, dude I can't imagine the pain but I'm sure everyone says that to people in the same situation.

Anyway, here it is: https://www.near-death.com/afterlife-evidence.html
I'm not here to start a fight with anyone, not trying to convert people but this is all I know.

So sorry man.

There's a super long waiting list. On top on that, it's not cheap. You have to pay millions in order to get one.

On a side note... I really don't think about this that much.
Is funny how this just went completely off-topic, no?
Life is not permanent you know?
Some of you might be too young to understand, but you reach a certain point in your life when you realize that there's no need to take everything so serious. And that the meaning of life is not determined on succeds, or grades, or money, or family, friends, love.

The most probable thing to happen to me is that, I hate life so much, that I'd probably die of an old age... I mean... I've tried it three times... that's enough proof for me that I'm here against my will...
So... let's have fun... okay?

Maybe post that on the site discussion forum. If you can get it to happen on desktop too, open developer tools and copy the contents of the console, as the error could be useful

I'm glad you feel this way about it. I'm only 18 and I've learned (being a religious person) to take it easy. There's nothing worth fighting anybody over, politics religion or whatnot. I do like to share my hope with people though... but only if they ask.

Education by relatives means that many kids will be left with no education and will end up homeless because they can't function in society
You are offending home-schooled children. This assertion is baseless. It's not like schools are the only place children can socialize. There are relatives, friends, clubs etc.
Many public schools are known for their physical and emotional brutality, that's why many parents seek to get their children into private ones. I have seen countless victims of bullying (I was not a victim myself, nor did I participate) who - I argue - would have benefited from home schooling but it was illegal.

- luckily first world countries care about their citizens enough to make sure everyone gets an education.
Precisely because of the higher living standard, rich countries could afford to allow home schooling because there is no child labor etc. But they don't want to lose their grip on the next generation(s) so they force parents and students at gunpoint.

Can you think of a better way to make sure all kids receive education than external school?
Yes, a better system is one that does not use force against people who are innocent of crimes. Those who want to go, can.

Do you think governments should mandate that every family must have at least one parent at home to teach the kids, and employ millions of assessors to visit people's homes and make sure the kids are being taught properly?
Parents have a natural interest (not instinct, INTEREST) in their children doing well. Does your "teaching properly" entail any ideological aspects by any chance? There is no need for SS divisions in my idea of a free society.
Universities can have entrance exams for the purpose of standardization of skills, not of thoughts.

What if one wage is not enough to support the family, they must live in poverty even though both parents are capable of working? What about single parent households, do they need to be homeless with their children and beg for food while they're not teaching their kids because they can't work due to being forced to educate their children themselves?
Another strawman.
I'm against forced school education.
Therefore I am against the existence of public schools.
Please find the logical error.

Let's just agree to disagree.

People that home school their children usually do it because they want to and have planned it. I am talking about if schools did not exist and everyone had to be educated at home - most would have families that don't have the time or the skills.

rich countries could afford to allow home schooling
You must be very rich if you think every single family in a country could afford to have nobody working or one person working in each family. Schools must exist or some kids won't have access to any education.

Another strawman.

You said you were against schools in general. You never said forced school education. There actually is NOT forced school education - families are free to home school if they prefer. The situation is actually exactly as you want - schools exist for people that either don't want to or are unable to home school, and families can home school if they prefer.

Does your "teaching properly" entail any ideological aspects by any chance?
No, I am talking about making sure kids are being taught to read and write and develop mathematical literacy. So that kids aren't just being kept away from school but learning nothing.

Yes, a better system is one that does use force against people who are innocent of crimes. Those who want to go, can.
This doesn't make any sense. What crime? What forcing?

You said you were against schools in general.
No.
I said that
-schools are useful (and used) for indoctrination.
-it is wrong to assume sb is not educated if he/she did not attend a school.

That's it.

Sorry for spamming your thread, man. You should see even more doctors. Don't tell the new doctors about what the others think.
How did you lose your daughter? (you don't need to answer)
How did u find out about your health problem?
