Okay so I had a clean Sysnand and it never touched any homebrew/CFW. I’ve been using it online while using sx os for emuNAND for CFW ect. Well I wanted to do the new switch where you can use either Atmosphere, or sxos emuNAND using Hekate boot. Everything went well, but for some reason I booted CFW on Sysnand (being atmosphere). I was offline so I couldn’t get banned if this happened. This is the first time I ever booted CFW. I technically could use my nand backup that’s clean on 8.1, or my original on 5.1, or I could just leave it and call it good. I have everything set up proper now, so what should I do? I have autoRCM on for saving burnt fuses, and I would like to continue using emuNAND offline and Sysnand online. Do I need to restore, or am I safe?

If all you did was boot Atmosphere one time on your clean sysNAND, and you didn't run any homebrew, and it was offline, it's unlikely you're going to be banned for this.

That’s what I figured, only thing I would want to do in the future since I booted CFW was to update through Choi instead of doing the OTA update I’ve been doing. Would updating through Choi be bad? I’ve seen some people do it and be fine, but idk. The only thing I would do on CFW Sysnand would use Choi to update, back up saves, all offline, and then go back to stock online. If however this would be a significant risk I can easily restore a clean nand now if it’s the best?

Using ChoiDujourNX on a clean sysNAND is not recommended. A clean sysNAND should only be updated through the system settings or with a game cartridge. Using Checkpoint offline seems like it's probably safe, but the risk is yours to take. Alternatively, you can do all of your Checkpoint usage on your dirty emuNAND.

You could restore a clean sysNAND backup if you're paranoid, but I personally wouldn't do it. The odds of being banned for merely using Atmosphere (and no homebrew) offline are very small, and it might be a greater risk restoring an old NAND backup with logs that don't comport with what Nintendo already has on their end.

If you want to use Checkpoint (just for backups) while certainly not dirtying your NAND, do the following:
  1. Make a new NAND backup
  2. Use Checkpoint
  3. Restore the NAND backup

Thanks good to know, I’ll just take the opportunity to backup my saves, and restore the NAND.
