They should restart the series after this title. Far too many characters.
I could say the same about MUGEN, but that's still going. Not as strongly as it used to 10 years ago, but there's still a lot of stuff out there!
Here's the bottom line: you want Goku, Sol from Guilty Gear (he'd be more badass of a guest than Hero, IMHO, but I'm more biased towards Guilty Gear, admittedly, and want the tracks in Smash Ultimate!), Sans from Undertale, *insert every person's want for a character in a Smash game*, be satisfied with what's there for MUGEN, or make your own damn game. They already "said that they've chosen who's going to be DLC", and unfortunately, it's probably not featuring Dante from the Devil May Cry series in what would be the ultimate opportunity for Dante and Bayonetta to square off with each other!
I think everyone needs to remember that crossover events aren't always going to please everyone. People wanted the X-Men and the Avengers to crossover in the MCU, and now we're not gonna see Steve Rogers and/or Tony Stark alongside Wolverine, Colossus, Deadpool (remember when he was a serious character?), Night Crawler, Storm, Dazzler, and more stand up against Dr. Doom, Magneto, Apocalypse, Thanos, Sabretooth, etc. in the MCU proper. Just be grateful that Smash Bros. is still a thing unlike Marvel Vs. Capcom regardless of what the rumors say. If you're thinking MVC4 will be a thing, I wouldn't get your hopes up to save yourself from the pain of disappointment. I would love it to come back, but nowadays, it's just never gonna replace MVC2, IMO.

I don't mean that Corrin is boring to play (as that's subjective), what I say is that the character doesn't deserve a roster spot because it's rather irrelevant in video game (or Nintendo) history. When I say "Smash Bros." you don't think of Corrin.
So, you think that Fire Emblem should have been buried in the same graveyard as Star Fox, F-Zero, Advance Wars, etc.?
I remember when I was trying to get Sonic and Tails in Melee back in the day because I was a kid who wanted more characters. As it turns out though, Sega was still clinging to the Dreamcast as a last hope of returning to their glory days at the time before becoming just another game publisher.
