welp, guess it doesn’t work with persona q2 or I’m still not getting it.
I copied another user’s save folder into jksv/saves/persona q2, went to titles>persona q2>save data>{save files folder} and clicked restore and it showed like it did something yet I have only my own save files to play when I boot the game TT

I haven't messed with Q2, but the Persona and Shin Megami games make use of ExtData. I remember Persona Q asking me if I wanted to save to ExtData as an option. It expands the available save slots.
The other person probably saved their game to the ExtData. You'll have to import that portion of their save in order for it to show up.

Thank you. I downloaded that and it only seems to contain a 3dsx file, no cia.

In that case use the github link right above it and look under Releases

those looks like switch copies. hmmm

here. You were in the Switch section of the save manager https://github.com/J-D-K/JKSM/releases

clicking on releases brings me to this, with a .cia as the second prebuilt file on the latest release.

You went to the JKSV repo instead of the JKSM repo.

It wasnt attached because updates are a thing and OP didn't want to have to maintain file version multiple places - which is perfectly reasonsble.

At the time, basic homebrew access was the most practical option. It wasnt until major vulnerabilities around OFW 11.2 or so that Luma/full CFW capable of installing .cia files became more prevalent
