Is it possible to implement sleep mode? Maybe to prevent crashes you could dump the ram to the SD and restore the state when the console is opened. Like a save state.

I'll have to check how exactly sleep mode works, but I think I can manage to make it work. I can interrupt the arm9 from arm7 and make it sleep then or so.

I don't think it would be necessary to dump the ram, closing the lid could do something more along the lines of halting emulation and leaving the ram as it is until the lid is opened.

It’s not emulation but I suppose you could halt the main application thread. I figured that would cause crashes in titles with bad coding.

Well, usually breaking during vblank or so is not really an issue. And even if there are non working games, it's probably just a few.

Hello.:)

I have tried Classic NES - Super Mario Bros. (US) and SRAM Patched with the GBARunner Version includes in TWiLight v9.0.0 (Ultimate) vramcache on/off.

After the Gameboy animation it stays now on WHITE SCREEN.

Is this a good or bad sign for your developement/progress on the Classic roms ? :(

On before version (Test build - sorry I no longer know which of the many was the latest.....) it says "Game Pak Error - turn the Power off."

Thank you.:)

Hello.:)

I "had" an (not new and maybe knowing) issue with GBARunner includes in TWiLight v9.0.0 (Ultimate) on ONE DSi,maybe the solution helps some users which maybe get the same:

- starting GBARunner in TWiLight (via pressing SELECT in the Menu)
- when the GBARunner UI appears a white screen with a black block in the left upper corner of the screen appears and the application freezed.
This issue appears when NO GBA folder was in the ROOT of the SD Card.
- when the GBA Folder is there,GBARunner starts normal but when you press "B" to change into other Folder(s) the Application freezes also.

The reason and the solution for this issue:

The SD Card was still formatted with FAT32 and 8192KB cluster size.
Please re-format it to FAT32 with "Standard cluster Size".(Windows - SD Card properties/format)
(sorry only german - Standardgrösse means STANDARD size clusters)

fat32.jpg

I oversee it maybe the last time I used GBARunner/Updateing TWiLight.....

Maybe this helps.
Thank you for reading.:)

The Classic NES series has a crazy amount of Anti-Piracy. I doubt it'll get supported anytime soon

Works fine but... games like Pokémon Ruby and Sapphire don´t work. The wiki says that I need to patch it and I already did with Gbata (the SRAM patcher option of course). I launch the game and I get the first Nintendo credits before getting a black screen. I tried to use another GBARunner version called GBARunner Gericom, which let me play the game with some sound problems and minor glitches. I can´t save btw. Anyone who can help me please?

First, you need to tell us about your set up. Do you boot GBARunner2 with a DS Flashcard or twilight menu?
Did you test regular and cache GBARunner2 version?

Sorry, I forgot to type it, I boot from TwilightMenu, which I think could be the problem. Like I said, I tried 2 versions: the regular and the .nds one called GBARunner 2 Gericom, which I can´t use now (it worked for me yesterday when I launched Ruby with minor glitches).

I found two game breaking bugs in Final Fantasy IV & V Advance. IV won't let you pass through the Devil's Road after the Paladin stuff happens in the story as it freezes the game up after making it to Baron. V has a bug with the Kick command where anyone who uses it gets stuck and you can't take anymore turns.

Compatibility list seems to have mistakes about some games...

but that game barely runs at native 4k

I think it was some newer games and probably poorly optimized PS4 or PS5 ports
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
they definitely will age better but i feel dlss might outweigh that since it looks about as good as native resolution and much less demanding

When I played Cyberpunk on my old 2080 Ti it sucked lol

AMD could introduce something comparable to DLSS but nvidia's got a lot more experience with that
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
least amd 7xxx has tensor cores which the previous generations didn't so there is the potential for AI upscaling

They have FSR or whatever it's called and yeah it's still not great

so AMD seem to finally be starting to take AI seriously

Oh yeah those new 8000 CPUs have AI cores built in that's interesting
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
Maybe they plan on offloading to the CPU?

Would be kinda cool to have the CPU and GPU working in random more

    Tandem even
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
i think i heard of that, it's a good idea, shouldn't need a dedicated GPU just to run a LLM or video upscaling
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
even the nvidia shield tv has AI video upscaling
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
LLMs can be run on cpu anyway but it's quite slow

I had a girlfriend who had a twin sister and they would mess with me constantly.... Until one chipped a tooth then finally I could tell them apart.... Lol
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
They would have the same hair style the same clothes everything... Really messed with my head lol
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
@The Real Jdbye, I could see AMD trying to pull off the CPU GPU tandem thing, would be a way to maybe close the gap a bit with Nvidia. Plus it would kinda put Nvidia at a future disadvantage since Nvidia can't make X86/64 CPUs? Intel and AMD licensing issues... I wonder how much that has held back innovation.
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
i don't think nvidia wants to get in the x64 cpu market anyways

you've seen how much intel is struggling getting into the gpu market

i don't think they want to take more focus away from their gpus
