New Astral Chain trailer shows off ten minutes of gameplay

PlatinumGames' latest action game, Astral Chain, has just received an extensive ten-minute trailer. In it, multiple gameplay elements are detailed, showing the combat, how to use special attacks, some of the different Legions you can use and their abilities, as well as the RPG elements which involve you unlocking new combos and raising stats. Players will also be required to investigate clues and solve puzzles in order to progress towards new areas. Astral Chain will launch exclusively on the Nintendo Switch this August 30th.

you're the one who needs to be more educated especially if you think that pc doesn't have much worth on investing in. what you're saying is straight up bullshit. you're just attacking with no basis at all.
Okay, give me examples then. What kind of projects in your eyes had become successful due to it's support solely from PC platform? .. and let's count out all RTS and other originally prominent PC genres from it. PC gamers are generally cheap, that's the truth. They had money to build up the their rig but most of them can't even invest properly without cheap Steam sales, or worse, filthy pirates hypocrites. Just some graphics whore I tell ya.

I'm waiting for your bullshit and baseless accusation.

Any game that gets a console release will look like shit compared to PC games that push the limits of the platform. You don't see too many PC exclusives these days, so I would think that we would be used to that by now.
They said that about Boyonetta 2, that came went in the books a one of the best and most beautiful of all time. On weaker hardware, Nintendo and platinum can make wonders.

1. i didn't even fucking mention pc in my first comment. all platforms are way more powerful than the switch
2. your arguement is just a strawman
3. pc is the cheapest platform to build
4. pc is not the only platform whee piracy exists. all consoles since the ps1 allow for piracy (not sure about the xbox 1)
5. but to answer your question: well in recent years minecraft, pubg and fortnite and in general portal, half life, countless visual novels, pretty much all fangames and a shitton of indie games. i donno why we exclude RTS games but there's the answer.

So you just want the game on PS4 and Xbone? :rofl2:. Lol just say that from the start, been a long time since I've encountered port beggers from platforms other than Nintendo.
Explain what strawman, less buzzwords and childish insults, more explanations.
I didn't even say no piracy in other platforms, this is GBAtemp ffs. I just said that the spending power of PC players are far less than others, they are being given the option to pirate anything with just some clicks.
Minecraft, PUBG, Fortnite are all anomaly success with all of them existed on most other platforms. What generation does Portal and Half life comes from?
Okay, VN is a valid point, but they never go big either, at the end they would always be limited by software ratings and policy. Also the genre are steadily declining, especially from JAP devs.
Does devs got profits from fangames, enabling them to further growth their portfolio? All fangame talk but no support.
Good old indies. They are everywhere though. PS4 and Xbone at the start of gen, Switch in recent years. Even indies on Steam complained about their shrinking visibility day and day.
I excluded RTS because there's no way hardcore players could replace kb/m for it on consoles in general. With that said look how the genre had declined, some sparks here and there but the olds guards of RTS had pretty much died. Just fakes, clones and nostalgia remakes.

all the franchises i mentioned kickstarted from the pc and no spending power of pc players is like every player's spending power. i donno where you get that info. indies are everywhere but a lot of the well known games kickstarted from there: super meat ball, fez, braid, terraria, binding of isaac, i wanna be the guy. some games get ported after a while but the reason they grew that big is the pc. also being succesful isn't just monitary profits. people playing the game, building a community, just giving people enjoyment through your games is success. and allowing so much options to play whether it's the keyboard and mouse or keyboard alone or a controller or whatever kind of weird gadget is one of the biggest advantages. just because you don't check those games out doesn't mean they declined. i don't wanna get started on that but the amount of amazing successful rps games that also brought profit in the recent years is enormous. you're really not making any point here man

no one gives a fuck about pc indies
no one gives a fuck about the keyboard and mouse
no one gives a fuck about rpg games on the pc
no one gives a fuck about how many games you bought on pc
no one pretty much gives a fuck about anything you have to say!

so if you'll please

Fair enough, it's not like I don't know some of them were successful by taking a chance on old PC. But they're still one in a million, years and years upon, with luck siding in them. Great games are more and more overlooked on PC, coverage is not arguably bigger because the competition is still sky-high, less growth potential due to low spending, also it may be cheaper to develop on PC but the risk are all balanced out.

Being successful means having an engaging community who actually spends money, that's my point from the start. How could developers had faith to properly invest if that is not the case at all? They can't just spew out TW3 at every turn to get the scraps from generous PC players. There's a reason for all this to happen.

Also what games that I don't check out? Last RTS that I played are the indie steampunk-esque one and AOE Remake. I'm waiting for W3 Reforged.
Not much for not-a-declining genre.

yea that game i heard is great (i forgot its name), there's also pillars of eternity 2 which was nominated for a lot of awards and you probably heard of, Battlefleet Gothic: Armada 2, into the breach which also released for switch recently, total war warhammer 2. the list goes on and on. i'm not even interested in the genre but it's there for its fans and honestly if anything the rps genre is getting even more popular as far as i noticed
What criticisms?
not yours specifically. i mean that they don't care about criticisms. they're a company and they care about money. you still have no point made

Some of them are solid sales from their budgets, but some are also disappointing. TW W2 sales are worse than the first one for example. They still exist, but they are far from the golden age they was once before. Added up with egregious micro transactions and DLCs, and people wonder why devs want their games to devalue for a far lower rate. It's not an exciting prospect.

That's just your opinion man. The fact is that rts is still a super popular genre.

such a fucking waste this will only be released for the switch to be bottlenecked by its hardware. this looks like game of the year material.
If it looks good, sounds good and it plays good, that's all that matters. Save your judgement for when it's released.
It being released as an exclusive hopefully means they have taken the time to properly optimize it for the Switch and have a well running game rather than a half assed port job that barely runs at all. As long as that's the case, it's not being held back by the Switch hardware at all - it's looking and playing exactly like the developers intended it to.

honestly it's either the video is super compressed or the game is being played at 480p but i sure hope you're right

I was skeptical of this game during the E3 presentation, just didn't seem like my kind of game. But after this trailer, gameplay, combat, puzzle solving, and the music, all of it looks pretty amazing. Reminds me of Xenoblade which I picked up just because there were no other big games for Switch at that time and I love it too. I think I'll pick this up now, looks like a ton of fun.
