Sorry if this is a duplicate post.

10+ years ago, one of my college professors homebrewed my PSP. At the time, I knew very little about it, and him being from China, everything that he did to it was in Chinese, so I really have no idea.

I recently found it, 10 years later, and was able to pull up the old games that were installed on it. However I didn’t really care to play them so I downloaded GoD of War and placed it on the memory stick, I place of the other games. However, GoW does not show up on the PSP, which I assume is some type of firmware upgrade needed.

What I know:
PSP1001
System software: 5.00 M33-6

I would like whatever is the newest CFW but not sure how to get there, and not sure how to tell what has been done to it as of now.

Thanks!

Thanks for the response, Pedro.

Do you have a link to the PRO Updater? I am not exactly sure what that is.

You also could install latest permanent CFW 6.61 Infinity. You have also PSP that could have problems with some homebrew/emulators since some of them are developed to handle more RAM (64 mb) that newer models of PSP have. You could ask here or read informations on Wololo.net

Here are link for CFW's http://wololo.net/cfw4dummies/

And about emulators http://wololo.net/emulators-for-the-psp-ps-vita-the-ultimate-download-list/

Hello.:)

Here it is for your use.

There is the Folder PSP\GAME this goes to the Memory Stick from your PSP (in PSP\GAME)

It contains 3 Folders

-CIPL_Flasher
-FastRecovery
-PROUPDATE <- this is for uninstalling your curent CFW o your PSP

Then you can get the offical 6.61 Sony PSP update:

Alexander,
I don't have anything similar in the PSP\Game directory. The only files that are there are...

._.txt
._UPDATE
.DS_Store

I also recently added an UPDATE directory with with 6.61 update within it.

From a guide I found, it seems like I have m33, and I could just do a straight update without needing to remove the old CFW. Thoughts?
...
Official Firmware below 6.60 or using CFW M33/Dark AleXEdit

Method 1: Connect to Wi-Fi. From the XMB (main psp menu), run System -> Network Update to install OFW 6.60.

Method 2: Download OFW 6.60 from Sony's site, and extract the file. (There are two different versions for PSP and PSP Go!)
Copy EBOOT.PBP to PSP/GAME/UPDATE/

As @PedroxBest mentioned it is maybe safer to uninstall your current CFW BEFORE you make the offical update as you found out for yourself.:)
The one he gave you comes ALSO in the GAME folder (FastRecovery & PROUPdate) with THAT you can UNINSTALL your current Mod/CFW.

Yes thats the right one to update to 6.61 official.

And then you can get your CFW 6.61 PRO c2 on your PSP.:)

Ok I was able to get 6.61 OFW installed. The link provided above was for 6.60 CFW. Is that what I am looking for, or is there a 6.61?

Link to 6.61 CFW if so?
