OP
I tried to put in my Sd card in my 4.0.1 switch to use the browserhack, but I get the following message "a system update is required to use the microsdxc memory card". What do I do to solve this issue? I have read that I can format to fat32 but I will be using this SD card for emunand and will be installing switch games. My understanding is that files cannot be over 60gb with this file format. What do I do to resolve this issue? I asked this question on another thread but I feel like this is going to be a bit more complex. How can games fit on a fat 32 if the maximum file size is 4gb and the maximum partition size is 32gb? I want to take advantage of my 256gb sd card to fill in as many games as possible. What options do I have here? Please no trolling as I am really trying to get my switch hacked.

Use GUIformat, google for it or get it here on gbatemp. It will let you format the entire SD in fat32. No need for exfat. When installing files larger than the 4gbs use tinfoil over usb.

Why do you want exfat?
Exfat is prone to corruption
You can split games for fat32 anyways
And usb install exists

On the other thread you stated that you needed Asos partitioner to partition the SD card for emunand. I thought people here said that Hekake could do that?

Not yet. You don’t have to use that exact program there are many that work. That is the one I used and I can confirm that it works. Hekate will only copy your MMC aka sysnand to your formatted second partition but only if it finds it, creating your EmuMMC.

FYI, Hekate has Stock EmuMMC disabled at the moment. Not sure if that makes a difference to you but thought I would throw that tidbit of info your way just Incase you were planning on updating your EmuMMC to current and go online.

Can I use the entire memory card as a partition?I don't really need the memory card for anything else besides EMUnand.

No, I believe you would loose access to everything but the 30gb that is your EmuNand. You will have to use the rest of your card for everything else like atmosphere, Hekate and Homebrew also this is also where games are installed to the SD card if you run out of room on the nand, it’s only 30gb and you will fill that super fast.

So how much space of the memory card do I need to partition for emunand?

Same exact size as your backup made with Hekate. 29.84gb

--------------------- MERGED ---------------------------

There is a good guide @ scenefolks that walks you through the whole process. Others have used this with good success.

The only thing I would add is when you go to format the second partition. For me it would corrupt if I put the sdcard (just the second partition) in my pc after EmuMMC was up and working ( to transfer files). Formatting as logical fixed it.

There's no way to just leave the emunand on the same partition? I read the only reason people partition is in case the SD card corrupts which apparently doesn't happen on fat32.

Edit:Guide you sent says that it is outdated and links to another one.

No one says that. The only other way is file based and that’s broken.

Fixed the link. my bad but yeah the one it pointed to is the one.

Think your getting confused with partitioning and fat32 vs exfat. These two separate things and both partitions should be formatted as fat32 for best results.

Good luck

Read this thread, I know what I read. You really aren't nearly as smart as you think you are. You should really quit with the patronizing attitude.
Your going to be using EmuMMC not EmuNand. So that thread doesn’t pertain to what you will be doing with Atmosphere and Hekate. Go ahead and do the file based but I don’t think you will enjoy the out come.
I wasn’t being patronizing, I was trying to help you. At this point I feel trolled and my help stops here.

Arguing semantics now that I called you out for being a bully, the switch doesn't even have a nand it has a MMC chip. My first thread you had a similar patronizing attitude and you have a picture of a little kid as your avi yet you are probably a grown adult. I can assure you that I am not the one that is trolling here.
