I'm not sure what's going on here, but I recently replaced my external hdd (showed caution in crystaldiskinfo). now, for some reason, the new hdd is not being detected. I actually tried both hdds after the new one wasn't being detected. neither was picked up. I've tried different enclosures, cables, even ports to no avail. I had originally used ustealth, so I don't know if that could be causing a problem. when I unhid my hdd, the system did pick up the drive and asked if I wanted to copy to it. I forgot to use bootice (don't remember ever using it) beforehand. I just used a cheap fat32 formatter. oh, and the drive is in mbr format. anyway, nothing I do seems to make any difference. this is a powered hdd btw. I don't know if not using bootice messed something up or not, but it doesn't really explain why the old hdd doesn't work, because I hacked the vwii a long time ago. despite its caution warning, the drive is detectable in windows. what could be the problem?

Hey, bro. Do you really not drink anymore? We should hang out again. This guy gave me a phone number and said I could get a medical marijuana recommendation through text.

I think I figured out the problem - usb device was connected to the wrong port. I reformatted several times trying to figure this out. not sure why I always overlook the obvious.

@Glyptofane , I haven't drank for over a year for several reasons. first, it's a stipulation of my disability. also, I don't like what alcohol did to me - drunken tirades, excessive tiredness, hangovers, and stuff like that. there are just some people in this world who shouldn't drink, and I'm smart enough to realize that I'm one of them. at first, it was a little difficult, but now I have a hard time understanding why people drink at all, especially people who get very angry. it certainly causes more problems.

I've been losing a lot of weight. it took about three to four months to lose anything after I quit. in fact, last December I weighed 253lbs. I got weighed today, and I was down to 209lbs (probably less without shoes, phone, etc. in my pockets). I haven't changed eating habits or exercised at all, so that was all from drinking. I was approximately 200 lbs when I was really fit.

That's a common issue I see around the forum.
USB port need to be Port 0.
Port 0 is at the bottom on Wii, and back-top on WiiU.

It's maybe even more an issue now that I changed the default IOS to 58 (for hdd compatibility), which allows listing of games from Port 1 too.
But once launched, the console reloads to cIOS instead of IOS58, which lock USB Support to port 0 only, getting either a black screen or a reboot.

yeah, I actually reformatted several times not realizing what was wrong. I bought a new hdd and enclosure over two months ago, and I only got around to installing it like a day or two ago, so I was concerned that the hdd and/or enclosure were duds. interestingly, the old hdd still works, but I did scan it with crystaldiskinfo, since I couldn't remember why I bought a replacement. it showed up as "caution," so I assumed that that's the reason. I also made sure that I bought an enclosure with the right usb port/ac adapter to swap the hdds out easily. plus, I can now diagnose the hdds on my computer without swapping cables. crystaldiskinfo shows this new hdd as good. :)
