So thank you to everyone who helped me set up my New 2DS! But there has been one problem I haven't been able to solve and that is transferring the save data of ACNL. I tried using checkpoint but it just told me my save data was corrupted and needed to be deleted. Then I had given up and just put the cartridge in the console. I gave up on trying to transfer save data to the CIA and just thought I'll play the cartridge when it also said to me my save data was corrupted and needed to be erased. Mind you I can easily load it up on my O3DS with no problems. What am I doing wrong guys? Thank you to everyone I always appreciate your help!

Try using JKSM if that dont work, then your going to have to set up a save on the source you want to use and grab the secure value. That value will then to hex edited into the save you want to use via HxD and loaded afterwards.

Would JKSM work better than Checkpoint? Also so I just set up a save file on the CIA of ACNL? Then I find a secure value. But question how do I know what the secure value is? And then I just edit that value into my own save file? Am I correct?

When you extract the save file of the current save on your cia. The secure value is going to the the first line in the HxD file of garden.dat. You will copy that line from the recent save, over to the save you would like to use. Import your save after that. Just make sure not to load ACNL before that value and import is complete or it will change again on you and need to be redone.

Do I have to start a new file first or is it ok now as it is?

Just tried it. Sadly, it didn't work. I replaced the top line of the garden_plus.dat and when I replaced the files using Checkpoint I got a notification saying save data was corrupted. What did I do wrong? I'm sorry for bothering you all again.

If you have a file saved to the cia you have already. Just export the save file to grab the secure value. If you dont have a save yet, then yes you will need to create one.
Question could it be because my previous console was US and my new one is JPN? Otherwise I'm just not sure what I'm doing wrong....

If you have a backup of your Nintendo 3DS folder before doing any Secure Value edits, manually restore the encrypted save file.
  • sdmc:/Nintendo 3DS/<ID0>/<ID1>/title/0004000/<TID LOW>/data/00000001.sav
, where <TID LOW> will depend on whichever region + edition of the game you have.
  • 0004000000086300 = Animal Crossing™: New Leaf (USA) (CTR-N-EGDE)
  • 0004000000198E00 = Animal Crossing™: New Leaf Welcome amiibo (USA) (CTR-P-EAAE)

Next, export the decrypted version of your AC:NL save data in GodMode9.
  • [A:] SYSNAND SD/title/0004000/<TID LOW>/data/00000001.sav Copy to 0:/gm9/out.

ZIP archive and upload the file here, or if you do not wish to publicly share your save, private message me.

No problem I still have my O3DS data. I will check there later today. I should mention before I do anything. That I have a cartridge. Will the .sav file still be in the Nintendo 3DS folder? And thank you for your offer I will pm you later today.

I can take a look if your game progress is intact, so send whatever it is that you find.

(Most) physical games don't make their saves on SD card. Depending if your save file hasn't been overwritten from previous bad restores, you can try pulling the AC:NL save out of the cart with SaveDataFiler (find this app yourself) if JKSM and Checkpoint did not work.

Perhaps switch over to using digital copy of the game when you restore it.

Hey there, I'm getting into this thread cause I'm DESPERATE for help! And I think this is the only place I can get it, so I'm please begging for some assistance, I'm also trying to restore an ACNL:WA save file, and I've got all requirred files, here's my situation:

- Got a 200+ hrs savefile from ACNLWA game that I played in a N3DS that got accidentally sinked in deep water, that N3DS is hardbricked but I could manage to extract the 00000001.sav from its SD card following the steps from this thread. (from the 0004000000198E00 folder in the SD card, US region)
- Bought a ACNLWA cartridge brand new, my goal is to transfer said savefile (the one with 200+ hours) to this new cartridge.
- I have homebrew launcher in my other 3ds and several Save manager apps through boot9strap, works perfectly and I could even manage to install ACNLWA on it with the previously mentioned save, but it keeps saying that the Save file is corrupted
- no choice but promting to delete it, and when I try to backup the -corrupt- save data through JKSV or Checkpoint, it displays that it can't access the save file location, so no success on it however I try.
- I keep the encrypted (I think it is, sorry for the ignorance) save and also a new save file extracted to try the secure value thing but I have no idea how to do it (the secure value should be on the garden.dat but the encrypted save is in .sav format and I just don't know what the hell to do, I have HxD editor as well.

Please help, I'm uploading the encrypted save, and I can extend any other file if needed. I'll be checking this thread often. Thanks in advance and sorry if bad english, not my main language.

@tehTinchomanDS, the 00000001.sav you provided is indeed encrypted. This save can't be recovered unless you have your n3DS SysNAND *.bin image or its essential.exefs that should have been backed up when you first hacked the handheld.
One of these is needed to obtain the console's unique encryption key for SD card contents. Learn more about the encryption between the Nintendo 3DS/<ID0> subfolder and the movable.sed KeyY.
:!: If you retrieve the n3DS movable.sed, don't publicly upload, post, or share that file or its hex image view.

Thanks for the articles, it brings a lot of help. I'll still ask for a little bit of help and guidance for this issue. The situation goes this way, since I'm not sure exactly how to proceed, and I don't understand with WHICH 3ds should I proceed, let me explain, I currently have:
- The bricked New3DS, it is NOT flashed with boot9, and has no CFW at all, but I have this console's Friend code (on the other 3ds below), all the Nintendo 3DS folder (from where I extracted the .sav so i have the ID0 and ID1 as well I guess), all the SD card files from this one (that wasn't affected by the bricking) and the console itself. Another important considerations: It just boots in to a black screen and shuts down, it was bricked by being dropped into water, never had CFW at all, it just operated "clean" all the time it worked.
- Another Old3DS, this one flashed with boot9 with Luma CFW and has access to homebrew launcher as well as homebrew CIAS through FBI, as well as access to all the SD card files from this console. I tried to extract the encrypted save here to no success at all (It has ACNL in digital format, as well as the Cartridge version). I can also extract/inject unencrypted save files in this one with JKSV and Checkpoint, among other homebrew save managers. My plan is to inject the encrypted save (from the bricked console, above) to the ACNL cart from here. This one has the bricked N3DS friend code added.
- ACNL:WA in digital format (in the Old 3DS) and in physical copy (Destination Cart), just as stated above.

How should I proceed? Is the save file still unencryptable/restorable? Sorry for asking noob questions, I'm starting to get familiarized with all the terms about 3ds hax. I'll be still in constant attention to this post. Thanks a lot in advance for your help and time, you guys are my only hope in this issue. If there's any way I can repay you don't hesitate in asking such, this save file means a lot to me, beyond emotional value.

If your n3DS ever had its Friend Code (#### - #### - ####) added to another 3DS system (ie, n3DS is on that o3DS Friends List), you will need to see (Very Messy Tutorial) SDTransfer.
  • Step 10. Last chance.
  • Part II - Calculate and compare the movable.sed KeyY to the 32-char <ID0> subfolder.
General Outline
1. On the o3DS, dump the n3DS friend code and LFCS info with seedminer.
2. Upload that *_part1.sed file and input the n3DS <ID0> at bruteforcemovable.com.
3. Wait and hope. If you're lucky, the website finds and returns another movable.sed with the complete KeyY.
4. Image mount the Nintendo 3DS/<ID0>/<ID1>/title/00040000/00198E00/data/00000001.sav using ninfs, movable.sed, and boot9.bin.
5. Copy the (decrypted) 00198E00/data/00000001.sav over to your computer.
6. Have the ACNL:WA game already installed on the o3DS HOME Menu.
7. In GodMode9, copy and paste the (decrypted) 00000001.sav to the [A:] SYSNAND SD/title/00040000/00198E00/data directory.
8. Back out with (B) button. Hold (R)-shoulder and press (A) on [A:] SYSNAND SD → Fix CMACs for drive → <A> yes → button combo → <A> to continue → <A> yes.
9. Boot back to HOME Menu. Don't launch the game yet. Backup and restore the save in either Checkpoint or JKSM to reset the anti-cheat gamesave restore (secure value).
